Possibly the best Jersey Jump Shot episode ever

Gotta hand it to Jerry, Copy/pasting the same article with minor updates year after year is a very efficient way of working smarter, not harder. I’ve been considering making a similar template for another rivalry I cover with more than its share of weird moments over the years…Philadelphia Union vs NYCFC.

Also Jerry has earned the “Dean of SHU writers” title. Most of the people in media now do this stuff between other jobs because of the nature of the business where almost nobody is making money.

Jerry is both a special writer AND a special person. We are so lucky to have him doing what he does.

I always enjoy Jersey Jump Shot, but I do think Jerry and Steve missed a great opportunity on this week's episode after Jonathan Mitchell was talking about the vaunted freshman class at Rutgers. They had a guy right there in Marcus Toney-El who was part of Seton Hall's last vaunted freshman class in 2000-01, and it was a prime chance for ask MTE about how this year's Rutgers team can avoid falling into the same traps and issues that his team did 25 years ago. Mitchell had even mentioned the difficulties of integrating such high profile kids into a team and MTE alluded to how hard it was to mix his class in with a team coming off a Sweet Sixteen!

The situations don't exactly mirror each other, but there is enough similarity given that such a class is almost unheard of at either program. I would've loved Jerry to pose it to MTE.

I love all the build up and drama. Hoping we defy all odds and win!

This isn't about the job that he does (which is technically subjective, but not the point of my comment).

This is about the ego he shows when he does said job. Earning vs Giving yourself a title are 2 different things. Proclaiming this to be the best pod you ever done? Another thing the creator shouldn't be judging...

Jerry doesn’t strike me as a big ego guy. He has to promote his stuff, which is not easy given the state of New Jersey college hoops these days. Maybe nicknames and calling things the “best ever” helps, who knows.
