Trey Lewis point guard from Cleveland State, transferred from Penn State, immediately eligible, made 98 threes last year. Rothstein says there should be a long line of suitors for his services.

I believe we should pick up a point guard to keep gibbs and whitehead off the ball and Carrington to keep coming off the bench . The fact that he can shoot helps as well.

a bunch of grad transfers out there i'd want. but so will a lot of other schools and from the outside looking in im sure we dont look like a great scenario to fall into.

Seton Hall doesn't just need to keep Gibbs off the ball. They need to keep Gibbs, period.

I actually disagree. We offer immediately playing time for a big and they will get to play with a lot of talented players. It's not a bad spot for a graduate transfer.

Sorry to say, but did you forget Willard's our coach and he has no idea how to use his players or coach them up...any grad student with eligibility would be wise to go somewhere other than SHU.

Have not looked at the list but there are a few decent bigs out there who have had injury plagued seasons or have just been behind quite a bit of talent. Mike Thorne is the one name that I think would be amazing but I have a feeling he has several suitors calling him up. What about Rountree, Angel Nunez or Kambola? All decent, actual bigs, who are capable of having productive stats if given the starting keys. I mean there could be better but what options do we have at this point if the opportunity is now.

That list will get much longer. As for people not honoring commitments, coaches don't honor theirs so why should we expect players to? These kids choose a school based on playing time and other inducements, with many of them interested in nothing more than preening for NBA scouts. There is nothing honorable about big-time college sports, and it gets worse every year.

"Jaren Sina, Seton Hall -- The sophomore point guard wasn't content with his role, and it's difficult to blame him"

What was JS role? To start every game, play point, shoot as many 3's as you desire, call your own plays. Yeah it is difficult to blame him with a limited role like that. I respect the kid as a student /athlete and that he didn't like it at SHU, but he was given the keys and ran right out the door with them. He would have walked right off the court a minute before the start of the Gtown game had karlis not gone after him. But who could blame him, after all it was the first game where he wasn't starting.

Agree that the comment next to his name is odd. Maybe he was just trying to use a less damaging description than "untenable".

The NCAA really needs to change the rule that if a head coach leaves for another job then a player can transfer immediately without sitting out a year. I really don't understand why the NCAA won't use any common sense when it comes to this.

The players don't make deep enough connections to the coaches or other students to keep them at a school.

Playing time and delusions of getting more exposure elsewhere also enter into it.

Just part of the swill bucket that college basketball has become.

KW gets credit for keeping our program clean at least.

No, he doesnt get credit for that. That is expected. Giving credit for this is ridiculous.

Its like when I told me parents that other kids got rewarded for getting good grades... "So? Youre supposed to get good grades!"

Pathetic culture.

Why? Just because the coach leaves the new coach should be handed a situation where every player can leave with no consequences, therefore hamstringing the new coach?

If a player wants to leave, most schools will grant him a release anyway.

The rules do NOT allow transfers to play immediately if their college coach leaves, it only applies to incoming freshman. NCAA Transfer Rules: Q: If my coach leaves, can I transfer and immediately be eligible?
No. Contrary to popular belief, the departure of a coaching staff member does not grant a
student-athlete relief from the residence requirement on transferring.
However, there is a transfer exception for student-athletes transferring from institutions
that discontinue a sport, never sponsored the sport while the student-athlete was in
attendance, or reclassified the sport from NCAA Division I to Division III.

Then why is giving them their release a big deal. And schools or conferences limiting where a kid can transfer to also has to go. Of course it won't, cause it is all about the kids...
