NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall senior Zach Prendergast (Horsham, Pa.) was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Prendergast is the fourth different pitcher to earn the impressive weekly distinction this season joining teammates Zach Schellenger (Feb. 20), Ryan Testani (March 13) and Cullen Dana (May 1). Prendergast has earned placement on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll twice already this season.

Prendergast had his best career start in game two of Saturday's doubleheader vs. Creighton, and it was on his 22nd birthday. Prendergast tossed his first career complete-game shutout in Seton Hall's 1-0 victory. The right-hander scattered seven hits and struck out seven batters, while walking only one. With the victory, he improves to 6-2 on the season and lowers his ERA to 3.03.

St. John's Troy Dixon was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Members of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll include: St. John's Sean Mooney, Butler's Ryan Pepiot, Villanova's Hunter Schryver and both Michael Emodi and Rollie Lacy of Creighton.

Prendergast and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Wednesday when they make the short trip to Lawrenceville, N.J. to take on Rider. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
