I'm hearing it's going to be a priest too. That's great news. Going back to our Catholic roots!
Disagree with naming a priest unless he gets the big picture . We are a Catholic University with a seminary on campus and we do have and never lost our Catholic roots.
Hearing that this may be completed by the spring and at least one major candidate is a priest. One with a major business background.
Today one of the priorities when hiring a university president, especially at a private not state university, is his or her fund raising ability and someone who has a vision for the school.
Whether it’s a priest or not let’s just hire someone who can do the job and keep SH relevant.

Couldn't disagree more. He resigned because he disagreed with the BOR's response to the Law School defalcation. I think he made the ethical decision.

If they want a priest then look across the river and get the guy from SJU to come on down! Let’s hope we hire the best person for the job, not just the best of some small subset (unless that person is truly the best overall). We need someone with a good business background among other things.
This is Seton Hall. I’d be surprised if things happened that quickly. Would be nice but I wouldn’t hold my breath. That said, I hope you’re right. Having an interim president, no matter how good they are, holds things up in the big picture.
