I appreciate your base of knowledge and the valid information that you put into these threads. I am concerned that moving forward more lethal financial blunders are quite possible with this administration. The salary, bonus and buyout seem out of bounds in contrast with other coaches. Do you believe that Pat Lyons is tied into all of this mess, or was he simply a bystander while this was occurring.

I think the answer is both. Zags reported that Willard got his extension near the end of his third season and I believe that is correct (not after his second season). There may have been some stipulations in his original contract about said extension. If so, very weak on the part of whoever negotiated that original contract (Hobbs, BOR. They work for Seton Hall, not Willard.) Therefore, Lyons must have played some role in this, would be naive to think he was some innocent bystander. And the extension per se does not seem to be the real problem, it's the buyout. Should have been changed to the more industry standard at the time of extension, Willard wasn't going anywhere.

Seems to me the more things (supposedly) change, the more they stay the same at Seton Hall.

Anybody have confidence that the powers to be will handle any coaching change well? Lots of concern in the field that Seton Hall is not as committed, well versed or intelligent. The job will not be attractive to some based on more than just money.

SPK, your source for the terms of the buyout? This board has become the "evidence free" zone. And no, no one who works for SHU has any obligation nor should they respond to the rumors here, almost all of which are right from whole cloth. Citing Zags is the equivalent of having Wikipedia as a source for a college term paper. Just check some recent Zags stories. Not much of an authority. But keep urinating in your own pool. You're all accomplishing so much.

His first two words were "I think." He didn't say "I know."

However, SPK has plenty of gravitas here and therefore the interest in his opinion.

Prefacing with "I think" is no defense. And since when does his "gravitas" make him knowledgeable about an agreement he has never seen. They no nothing comes to mind.

The post was specifically directed at him you idiot. And yea, "I think" is certainly a qualifier.
