Fire away and I will do my best to answer any legitimate questions as the season approaches.

From what I have been told we like him a lot and our best chance is to get a commitment in the early signing period. Short of that all bets are off.

The school for whatever reason has always been hesitant to talk about that.

In the past I had excellent connections with the various ticket managers and even then they politely refused to answer. Now, I have to form a new relationship with the ticket manager so I have no real info.

I can only say from past experience we have so many ticket plans that there is no true answer. My gut is we have about 4500-5000 or so full season ticket holders and a few thousand others on partial ticket plans.

If we truly have 5000 ticket holders if all of them got a monthly subscription to NIL we could be competitive. Obviously people may have more than 1 seat, but if everyone committed to $25 a month in a year that is 1.5 million without doing any other fundraising.

Seems like a reasonable idea. Most season ticket holders already have a mandatory Pirate Blue donation per seat; I wonder if there's any way to siphon a small amount off of that? Seems like an accounting nightmare.

From box score of the scrimmage did not look great for the bench players. Is there any silver lining from practice that might not have been seen in the game?

Sadraque NgaNga seems to be a mystery to me. I get that he was a pretty high recruit that he got injured, but is his injuries still a concern? Did not return to full health? Based on the limited videos that I have seen he seems like a nice get, but not much talk about him.

I posted a very detailed summary re the game on the Trove. I won't do the same here but instead be brief.

All the starters played reasonably well. Even (don't laugh) Bediako in his foul plagued 7 minutes (let's hope that's not a pattern)

1 Richmond

2 Davis or Wusu

4. Dawes (in the last 7 minutes after playing poorly he won the game for the Pirates.

5. Bediako

After that the bench really struggled. Best we leave it at that and hope it was just early season jitters.

When the bench goes 0-12 from the field, 0-6 from the arc and 1-2 from the line you really have to look hard to post any positives.

They'll play better to open the season and then after 4 gimmies we'll talk.

@Halldan1 I am hearing the younger Harris brother is out for the career. Is this true? What a waste, great for the kid though he got free training and a scholarship.

His SHU career is almost 100% over. Whether he tries to play elsewhere no one knows.

A really good kid who worked his butt off to get back on the court. Sha loved his effort and gave him one more shot this season as a reward for his efforts. But probably for naught.

Sha handled this properly and Harris did everything possible to pay him back. It just didn't work out. I admired the hell out of both the coach and the player in this instance.

A shame, for everyone involved. Heartbreaking for a talented kid who worked so hard to get on the court; I wish him the best whatever might be in store for him.

I know scholarship slots are precious, but good on Sha for trying to ride this one out. It says something good about him, beyond basketball. And if nothing else, it must be worth a nice hefty deposit in his karma bank, too.

SHU does not have 5,000 unique season ticket holders, but 5000 season tickets sold, with most people having more than one ticket per season holder account. Got to figure most holders have 2-4 tickets per account, so probably have 1,500-2,000 full season ticket accounts.

Agree 100%. Especially this year with two freshman (Brown and Arda) who are not going to log many minutes, we are playing with a shorter rotation to begin with. Was selfishly hoping Jaquan would recover and give some desperately needed PG help by the BE schedule.

Tough break for this poor kid and while not the same, tough break for Jamir with a bum shoulder his senior year when I'm sure he wanted to contribute even more.

Well, that "explains" Carino not asking Sha about him during the Q&A. Seemed like an egregious miss to not ask...

Sadraque NgaNga seems to be a mystery to me.

Sadraque NgaNga sat at our table at the Beefsteak. Very nice but very shy.

I asked him if he had any nicknames. He didn't answer me. I asked him again if the guys had a nickname for him?

He said they call me 'Sada Baby'. I said 'Sada Baby? You've got to work on that.' He chuckled a little.

Is it possible that Sha played the long game on this one? If so, smart move if the younger brother is a player.

That's what maybe some would think. But then I would say they don't know Holloway. He can be one tough SOB, but I say that adding he also has a heart of gold.

So to answer your question, and of course I can't get in his head, I would say no.

I did mention that, but ok let’s say you have 2000. Everyone gives $50 a month that’s 1.2 million in a year. Add some additional funds with fundraising and now you have a competitive budget.

You also have to remember how Holloway ended his SHU career. I would assume he has a weak spot for injuries.

When we were still recruiting players, including quality points, Harris had a roster spot guaranteed because our coach understood that Harris had no other options and Holloway was so impressed with Harris trying to get back on the court and working so hard that he gave him one more shot knowing there was little chance that the roll of the dice would work out.

IMO that is incredibly admirable. A side that few see in Holloway.

Dan- with all the changes re. the transfer portal is it possible to bring in a player for the second half of the year (semester) to take Harris' spot? I would imagine Harris would be good with this and the university would surely honor his scholarship through graduation, if that is what he chooses. Seems too good to be true but there must be someone out there who was not picked up for whatever reason, has eligibility, and could provide some ability to play some minutes at point, even if only for a year.
Sorry if this is a dumb question.

We have the full allotment of 13 scholarship players. So no, that won't happen.

What we have now is 11 mostly healthy players. One, with back issues that might take another 3 or so weeks to remedy in Tubek. And of course Harris.

This isn't team related so I know it might be of base but has the university decided to not continue with the dj? I know they've tried a few times but I don't recall one at all last year. The one Willard's final year really seemed to have a pulse on the student section and it helped getting them hyped. In this current atmosphere I feel like it couldn't hurt but also understand the financial side of it too. 🤷
