1. Smart 23-6 15-3
Last week a no brainer. This week a lock.

2. Cooley 21-8 13-5
In any other year........

3. Miller 21-8 13-5
A JERK, but he deserves to be here.

4. Hurley 22-7 11-7
On a major roll

5. McDermott 18-11 12-6
Sputtering down the stretch.

6. Holloway 16-13 9-9
Can't win against quality with no O.

7. Anderson 17-13 7-12
Pitino in the rearview mirror?

8. Neptune 15-14 9-9
Playing better and could move up.

9. Matta 14-15 6-12
Drops a spot. Split last 2 games losing to the Hoyas and edging DePaul.

10. Stubblefield 9-20 3-15
Thank God for Ewing.

11. Ewing 7-23 2-17
Really, who ever thought it would be this bad?

1. Smart 23-6, 15-3
I am part of the Cult of Shaka. The guy can coach.

2. Cooley 21-8, 13-5
A very, very good year. Maybe they make a run in March?

3. Miller 21-8, 13-5
No one likes this guy, but he definitely made the Big East coaching roster deeper.

4. Hurley 22-7, 11-7
I wouldn't be surprised if the Huskies are the last Big East team standing next month...

5. McDermott 18-11, 12-6
... unless this one is.

6. Holloway 16-13, 9-9
I think he did a good job setting a baseline for his culture of toughness and defense, but now we need someone who can score, too.

7. Neptune 15-14, 9-9
Juggled injuries and high expectations and now with everyone finally on the floor, has his team playing almost like Villanova again. No one wants to meet these guys next week.

8. Matta 14-15, 6-12
I don't see much on this roster, which gives him the slightest edge over Anderson, whose team should be better.

9.Anderson 17-13, 7-12
I've always thought he was a very good coach, but this seems not to be working. They have too much talent to be here.

10. Stubblefield 9-20, 3-15
Took a disappointing step back this year. Next year will likely point to his eventual trajectory.

11. Ewing 7-23, 2-17
This was never going to work, but this is even worse than I expected. Season can't end soon enough.

Time to give Villanova and Neptune their due. Based on the last 2-3 weeks and last night's win, Neptune is clearly above Shaheen.

not a Neptune Fan but did beat Hall twice when such a result not expected --would put both Neptune and Sha at 7

Here’s what I will say about Neptune: even before Moore’s return, that starting 5 was way too good to be where they are.

Dixon, Daniels, Whitmore, Slater, Armstrong. I put that starting 5 in the top half of the league East, maybe above others in that group. That’s the group when you take Moore out of the equation.

As another poster noted, Neptune’s coaching picked up when Moore came back.

2-5 start when Cam was out

Dont forget Cam missed 1st 7 games and they were 2-5 in that stretch. Also, Armstrong just started to "get it" Chris Arch had to play major mins for most of year which isnt ideal.

So as a Nova fan, are you pleased with what Neptune has done to date? I’m surprised how bad they’ve looked at times with the talent on the roster.

Sure, without Whitmore and Moore, they’ve struggled. But even without them, there is talent there.

I give Kyle a C, C+ for this year so far. Biggest gripe was been game mgmt and substitutions....but that has improved lately. Roster isnt as great as you think, especially without Justin and Cam. Dixon is a stud and Armstrong will be great, but guys like Daniels and Slater are role players thrust into alpha roles for much of the season. Also, there is no true pg on this roster.

Kyle has kept team together and the team is playing its best basketball now...which is always what Jay strove for. I think there is pressure on him to fill roster gaps through portal for next year and land a strong 2024 class.

Fair enough. Those two will fix many substitution issues. We know a collection of role players thrust into alpha roles.

Time will tell for both.

1. Smart
2. Miller
3. Cooley
4. McDermott
5. Hurley (UConn record should be better than what it is, if he can’t get to Sweet 16, questions should arise)
6. Holloway (injuries have limited the team this year, but I think to a certain extent he got more from this team and a slight overachievement)
7. Neptune (Moore or no Moore I think Nova should have a better record than what they are now. If he does run the table in BET, he’ll shake the doubters for now)
Tied for 8 Matta, Anderson, Stubblefield
11. Ewing; all the best to original Big East Legend

I always thought Daniels had more of an alpha in him, and he would naturally slide into that role being asked to do more this year. No doubt I was wrong. Agree on Slater. He’s as good of a glue guy/complimentary piece as you want given his versatility.

More of a catch and shoot guy who can slash as well. Has problems creating off dribble and in iso.

IMO its obvious. The decade of supreme point guard play has come to an end. That’s what Nova is missing this season.

Way too many bad losses for them with that roster. I understand they didn't have Moore and the lack of a true PG is really hurting them, but you can't be losing games to Temple, Portland, DePaul, and Buter with that roster even with missing players. 1 bad loss? It happens. Maybe 1 in non-con, 1 in BE? Maybe. But 4? C'mon.

It took a few weeks for Moore to round into shape but what he gives Nova on defense is huge. That was sieve for them earlier. They are still not great offensively, but Moore is much better now than when Seton Hall played them down there.

But hey, they're 6-1 with wins over Creighton and at Xavier down the stretch. Tip of the hat. I don't think they're beating Connecticut or winning the BET, so they'll be in the NIT.

I'd go:

1. Smart
2. Miller
3. Cooley
4. Hurley
5. McDermott
6. Neptune
7. Holloway
8. Anderson
9. Matta
10. Stubblefield
11. Ewing

Then what grade do you give Holloway?
