I think we all need a bit of a reset after a very difficult month for just about everyone. We
are all too aware of the very real challenges we are facing.

As far as Seton Hall University and the basketball program we need to take a deep breath and have some confidence in Mr. Willard. The great thing about basketball is you only need a few good players from year to year to be relatively successful.

Assuming Sandro comes back we should be a decent program next season. I'm not sure if Aiken will be here or not. Either way I believe Rhoden and Molson will be above average players for SHU.

It would be hard to imagine that there is not going to be a new player on next season's roster along with Long and Stevens. I guess that could happen but probably not. The question marks are the starting PG and what can we expect out of Ike at the 5? A bench that would possibly offer Cale, Reynolds, Samuel and Stevens is not awful. Long's role is yet to be determined. Samuel could have star power, but he needs to take a leap from last season.

So where are we?

The consensus is that our facilities have become the deciding factor in these recruiting battles. I can see the argument, but I'm not completely on board.

As far as 5 star recruits I think most of us realize that game is played on a different level. The prize for SHU is the 4 star recruit at this point.

Give Rutgers credit because they are staying focused on the local talent and their facilities are good. I think both the RAC and Prudential Center are good home court venues. I doubt Rutgers can win every home game from year to year. Also, because there is no sports news at this time the recent signing of CO was blown a little at out of proportion. He looks at first glance to be a future NBA player, but nothing has been guaranteed on the court. Time will tell. IW and Delgado struggled in the NCAA's and they also had Carrington and Desi. So we don't know.

Did anyone really believe we'd be a top 15 team again next season?

The question is can we be a top 35-40 team? That's what I'm hoping for.

A disappointing recruiting cycle? Yes without question, but you have to pick up the pieces and get better from this point forward.

Once the dust settles from this epidemic the University has to reevaluate the finances and see what they can do to improve the facilities. That part is not going to be easy. I go back to the original point, you need a few good players from year to year to be successful. That part is possible.
