The name can bring some anger depending on your feelings but there are some pertinent highlights worth looking at

Sterling's buzzer beater against Nova was a great moment at the BE Tourney. He also came back a few times after he left and was friendly to many of the fans in our section. I have no ill will about his time here. Quite the basketball family!

Sterling in a Uconn uni? No, dont remember at all.

That shot was well worth his stay
I was working, could not get the video feed in my office, was following on the bpb from ESPN probably. We were down, then we were up, no time left, but the way we scored took about a minute to post, making me thing of every possible glitchy reason why the score was wrong lol

Gibbs was terrific to start the 2014-2015 season. He was MVP of the Paradise Jam, and had awesome games to start year against St John's and Nova. He then went on to hit essentially buzzer beater 3 to win in Creighton. Unfortunately, there was a lot of stuff going on behind closed doors that ended up souring everything.

While i know nothing, if you just watched his interactions with Willard, there did not seem to be too much respect. And then basically said he was coming back, and ended up at UCONN. When he officially left, i said it was addition by subtraction (which it clearly ended up being).

At the end of the day, his shot against Nova in BET will always be a great one for Pirate fans.

That was the year IW, Angel and Khadeen were freshman and we also had the drama with Jaren Sina. New talented recruits coming in with a few vets not happy at possibly losing playing time along with a new assistant coach that may have been stoking a few fires as well. Definitely some drama behind the scenes and not the best way to leave. But the kid definitely played hard during his years here and had more than a few highlights to remember.

Emphasis on assistant coach stoking some fires. What a dumpster fire that was.

There were six lead changes in the last two minutes. Four in the final 41 seconds.

The reason the final seconds took an eternity was that Willard smartly called a timeout from the bench with under five to play because we were going nowhere offensively.

Credit Gibbs with doing a great job on the step back to create separation and get a clean look from the top of the key. Nothing but net as the clock hit zero.

Was our first trip to the BET semis in a number of years.

Yes. Edwin was frantically bringing the ball upcourt and the Nova defense was funneling him into the far right corner.

If Willard didn't call a timeout the resulting shot was going to be an off balance heave from 20+ feet.

Willard as much as Gibbs won that game.

Is that the year Nova went on to win the National Championship? The exit before a grind of a BET Championship game may have helped them.

No, that was 2016, when we beat them in the Final.

And no hard feelings with Sterling, there was a toxic blend of personalities in the locker room, not going to fault one of the players. This moment was a great one, and we hung tough with Louisville the next night.

No, we played PC the next night in the semis. Went down to the final minute or so. Then PC beat Creighton for the title. So you can say we gave PC its championship by knocking NOVA out for them!

I was at game after having been to our late win over Butler the night before. I was floating for about 48 hours. The year he sat out before he played at the Hall he sat at our table at the Beefsteak. Was nothing but a gentleman.

Holy cow, you're right. Louisville was gone by then. I remember the Theodore-Pope team (Willard's first?) winning a first round BET game and then playing a very good Louisville team close, a game that may have snuck us in the NCAA, despite the terrible DePaul loss.
