Holloway named Peter A. Carlesimo Met Writers Coach of the Year

NEW YORK — Senior guard Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) has been named first team All-Met by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced Monday.

Pirates head coach Shaheen Holloway was named the Peter A. Carlesimo Met Writers Coach of the Year for his coaching job at Saint Peter's where he led the Peacocks to the 2022 MAAC Championship and the Elite Eight at this year's NCAA Tournament.

This is the seventh straight year and 21st time in the last 23 years that Seton Hall has placed at least one student-athlete on the All-Met first team. Rhoden earns his second first team All-Met selection after being named to the top squad last season. He becomes the 11th Pirate to be named first All-Met on multiple occasions.

The honor bookends a fantastic career that saw Rhoden go from a freshman that averaged 13.1 minutes and 3.4 points per game to an All-BIG EAST First Team selection. Rhoden was the linchpin for a Seton Hall squad that returned to the NCAA Tournament this season and registered its sixth 20-win season in the last seven years. He was named All-BIG EAST First Team and was named to NABC and USBWA All-District Teams after finishing sixth in the BIG EAST with 15.5 points per game. The guard ranks in a tie for 33rd in program history with 1,270 career points. Rhoden is one of only 12 Pirates to log more than 1,200 points and 600 rebounds in a career. He played on three teams that won at least 20 games, two NCAA Tournament teams and was a key contributor for the 2020 squad that won the BIG EAST regular season championship.
