Richmond & Davis

My favorite part of this wasn't necessarily anything Fanta said, but I liked seeing these clips of Dre Davis looking more explosive than last year. A sign, I hope, that it's true that he (and Kadary) are fully healthy going into the season.

Nice to see the Captains getting extra shots up. That's what it takes.

Both of them weren't known as strong shooters but were very efficient in the shots they took both hitting over 40% from 3. Can they repeat that this year?

For Davis, he should see a huge increase in minutes as he played injured all last year. He shot 25% and 20% from 3 his 2 years at Louisville so it's a fair question to wonder if last year was a small sample size anomaly or if he found something with his shot. He shot better from the FT line and from nearly every part of the floor. He was strong at the rim (73%) and excellent on corner 3s (7 for 11).

Kadary's shot profile was almost exact opposite of Dre's. He didn't take a lot of 3s but he was an elite shooter on 3s from above the break/elbows draining 16 of his 32 attempts. He struggled greatly at the rim converting only 43.8% on a high volume (89 shots). As easy as he gets in the paint, this is a huge potential area of improvement for Kooks.

Spot on. No one could stop his penetration. But once there he seldom finished.

For one day, last Friday, he was automatic at the rim. Either got fouled or finished. Sometimes in spectacular fashion. Told him as he was walking off the court that if he played like that he would be a no doubt about it first team All Conference player. He smiled and agreed.

I'm the glass is totally full kind of guy, so take my comments with a grain of salt. Many on the board are taking a cautious approach to this season, placing us on or outside the bubble. The key to this season is staying healthy and that is what I'll base my opinion on.

With our offense much improved and maybe a slight drop-off in defense (I don't think we'll see a drop-off), this team can be in the Kenpom top 40. This would put us firmly in the Dance.

GO PIRATES!!!

p.s. I'm looking for Stacks to thrive
