Hit it out of the park tonight. He will earn himself a ton of votes from this speech. Fantastic delivery, tone and substance. Weaved everything together seamlessly.

Only negative: I wish he went into detail about his plan for 12 million new jobs. That knocks him down to an "A" instead of an "A+" in my opinion.

Agree that clearly his strategy needs to be about job creation and leadership, which he did a good job framing last night. Smart to focus on a lofty number too (i.e. 12 million). Something tangible and the next two months should be focused on rolling out details of the plan.

shu09,

I give you a lot of credit for watching any of these silly conventions. Anybody can give a great speech at these things, it's merely throwing red meat to the lions.

The real problem with Romney and almost all politicians are who are they exactly? Words are cheap. Most politicians past and present actions don't match the rhetoric.

Romney scares the hell out of me. He was pounding on the war drum loudly. He seems to think we are still fighting the Cold War. How many countries did he threaten last night?

Since the JETS pre-season game was on early I watched the GOP Convention tonight. I did not see any of the previous nights.

MY IMPRESSIONS

1. If Clint Eastwood was the candidate I'd vote for him! (That's not a joke. Clint has more common sense than the other two combined)

2. Marco Rubio's speech was impressive but too long. His best line - Obama is a good family man & good person but not a good President - I can't really disagree with that.

3. Mitt Romney's speech almost put me to sleep. His best line - President Obama four years ago promised to fix the economy & get people back to work. He failed at that. it's time to give someone else a chance - IMO that's the line and tact that may get him elected. This could turn out to be another Carter/Reagan election. If Romney can sell the point that OB failed on his promises the electorate may well decide to give some one else a chance as they did with Carter/Reagan.

But remember that these convention speeches are nothing more than that as SPK said. They have a very friendly audience & try to say some things to please everyone whether it's realistic or not.

I was not expecting a good speech to be honest. But I thought it was a great speech and he was lively, well spoken and seemed believable to me. I was pleasantly surprised and agree that he hit it out of the park.

I think a lot of folks said lets give Obama a chance to improve on things last go round. Hopefully they say lets give Romney a chance this go round IMO. It can't get much worse!

This speech was different. It was aimed at the audience on TV for the most part. He knows he has the folks on the floor on his side. I still maintain he did a very good job last night. If I had to nitpick for one negative, he was catering to women. So many lines about them seemed like overkill. But when your party polls so badly with women, might as well try something and hope it sticks.
