He is a republican who handled his state awfully for health but good for their economy.
This guy said that travel from the north and internationally in late jan caused covid to have dense pockets in dade and broward counties late jan early feb for sb travel. Yet he was happy to welcome spring break crowd to his tourism destination beaches 4 to 7 weeks later.
He is a bucs fan i am sure if they allowed partial fans he would have wanted to attend the game. I am sure him seeking a chance to still attend would be bad greedy perception.
It is irrelevant if tampa has fans now vs having healthy safe enviroment in late jan early when sb and all activations that come with are happening.
It is in everyones best interest, that host committee, the league the state and the country and the world that sb is as normal an event as can be.

Party does not matter. Democrats and Republicans at all levels screwed up. But I think they were trying to do what they thought was right.
What gets me is that not one—not a damn one- admits that they were wrong or would have done things differently now that they know more.
Pirate64, party means everything to many on this board. If you are a republican and based decision on macro economy you did well, if you are a dem and based decision on your population density and health and spread prevention you took away everyones civil liberties.
There was no perfect solver for what has transpired. However what we do know is that it took up close human interaction to spread from one to another. Many other states saw what happened early enough in NY NJ CA Northwest and instead of taking strict preventive measures for a finite period of time they said nah we are good and enabled and influenced reckless behavior among their citizens.
We have folk like shu09 that says the virus was gonna run its course everywhere. It took human enablers for that to happen.
As for the protests, if pure and peaceful, there was still variance for distance and masking and the menacing acts violence and community destructions made it all worse.
This is an interesting comment. Every state outside of New York, New Jersey, California, and Washington had the benefit of learning how the pandemic was handled by those governors. Fairly sure DeSantis would have done a worse job in NJ than he has in Florida.
Cuomo dud a great job.Most deaths,nursing home blame game etc.Now he is resisting an investigation because
all the republicans in NY will be biased against him to the point even his brother Fredo can’t explain it away.

LOL, there's literally not one single instance in this thread of anyone calling anyone names. Not one. Cuomo called himself Fredo.
DeSantis and his state health commissioner protected the nursing home population right from the start and did not cave in to the Medicare and insurance company push to move infected patients from hospitals to nursing homes. A great move. Where he fell down IMO was not making masks a mandate and he tried to get spring break in which is a huge economic boom to Florida. He needed to be stronger with his population to get them to take more precautions.
But comparing him to NY isn't even close. NY has over 32,600 deaths and Florida has approximately 11,870. The death count is the bottom line and Florida will never rival NY's. Right now there are so many colleges in Florida boosting the count. Hopefully that calms down in the next month. Death count is what matters in the end. They have work to do and I am not praising DeSantis but Cuomo did an awful job and still is doubling down that his nursing home decisions were the right thing to do which is silly at this point.
