Plus this comment on SHU....

  • Seton Hall has a heck of a glue guy in 6-7 sophomore Ismael Sanogo. The bouncy forward made life miserable for Marquette's Henry Ellenson on Wednesday night in Milwaukee and had a huge hand in the Pirates' 20-point win. Sanogo is critical for Kevin Willard's team because he can have an impact without needing the ball. He's currently averaging 5.3 points and 7.4 rebounds.

It's all true. I have to say that I did not see this coming. My only observation is that on offensive rebounds he immediately looks to pass out. If he can get comfortable with the ball off a rebound 7 or 8 feet from the basket his points per game should jump.

Did you notice how "semi comfortable" Ish was with receiving passes from IW in the paint at MU?

He's getting more skilled.

Anytime a kid grows, like ish did last year , it effects your ability to push your body hard in workouts. That plus his relative young age could have effected his play last year.

Let Ish be Ish! Lol. His role is similar to Greg Morton's during the Amaker days, D and rebounding, but I think his numbers are better already. The glue guy is an apt description but by the time he leaves, it wouldn't surprise me if he is a second option on offense and gets his share of points.

Greg Morton's best year was his Freshman year where he averaged 3.9ppg and 4.7rpg.

BTW, I loved Greg Morton as a player.

On Offense??? He will never be a 2nd option. His backup is a better option.

Ish has been a revelation. The biggest and most positive surprise I can remember in going from Year 1 to Year 2.

Sami what makes you think he will be good offensively? Secondly, look at his class, he's not close to being better offensively than IW, KC, DR, AD, or Nezi. Probably could throw Singh in there as well.

I asked my magic 8 ball if Ish could grow immensely in the next 3 years. It said yes.

And right or wrong, if there is speculation that any of the players may, and I stress MAY, leave after next year, wouldn't one conclude that if they stay they'd be more likely to leave after their junior years.

So one speculating that Ish MAY be the 2nd option on the team by the time he leaves, and that is 3 years from now, is fanatical euphoria based on how much he's grown. And the opinion of that poster does not requires a shitty response denigrating the kid's accomplishments from year one to year two.

Nzei is solid as well, but by no means clear cut ahead of Ish. Nice problem to have.

Read what I wrote. Nezi is clearly ahead of Ish offensively as is all of the starting lineup, plus Singh, Gordon, & I'd bet Powell is too. So for you to say Ish will be a 2nd option offensively shows how stupid you are

"Oh, my," to quote Dick Enberg. I was gonna write "or third option," but why not just throw in "fourth option," while you're at it. I figured second option gave enough wiggle room given the three years, as Sami points out. But if not, feel free to insert third if it makes one feel better. He's athletic, for sure, and in my view, to limit the upside on an athlete is typically a mistale and shortsighted. Rimas K and Copeland come to mind as freshman who didn't impress but later blossomed.

Who's stupid? The original poster speculates "BY THE TIME HE LEAVES" which is 3 years from now. And until now, I didn't call you any names. Your posts are douchy, and your response was shitty, now you're an ass.

That's a pretty good comparison, Sonogo to Greg Morton, at least right now. I'd have to think Sonogo has the higher ceiling, but right now, yes.

They're both pleasant surprises so far and let's hope the improvements keep coming.
