Wow, what a tournament for the true BigEast player of the year - Ryan Arcidiacono! In only 28 minutes per game Ryan managed to put up an impressive state line of 4.6 ppg, 3.0 apg, 0.6 rpg while shooting a blistering 30% from the field.

How this kid won POY is beyond belief.

In all seriousness congratulations to Villanova. I love their program and think they're a great team and deserve a number 1 seed. I hope that our boys were watching tonight because they could learn a lot from Villanova specifically about the importance of chemistry and playing team ball. Good luck in the tournament 'Nova!!

It probably should have gone to Hilliard. I like Dunn, but he's turnover machine with 131 for the year. As for Arci being Co-Player of the Year, I think it's a case of the Big East coaches trying to be a little too cerebral with their voting. Arci is good and he makes the engine run, but he's not even in the top ten point guards in Villanova history.

The kid injured his ribs and he is diving all over the place. True gutsy player.
Thought it should of gone to Hilliard but arch drives the car

Put Arch on your team with your young talent and you would be dancing. ABSOLUTE WINNER and leader of our team on and off the court. Does anything needed to win and doesn't care about the credit. Played thru injuries all year and never complained or made excuses. Dove all over the floor last night with bad ribs. The Big East coaches know the value he adds.

You can say that about a lot of point guards. Arcidiacono is good, but he is not among the elite point guards in the nation. He's not among the top 10, and probably not among the top 20. As a recent thread on your own board indicates, he's not even among the top 15 Villanova point guards of all time.

I think Hillard is more deserving. Arch isn't a BE 1st or 2nd team all BE player, IMO

He led the league in diving on the floor. Apparently the coaches weigh that heavily.

The fact he was POY is ridiculous and basically invalidates the entire BE award process. He didn't even deserve 1st team honors. That said Would love him on my team.

jimsouls, not one of top, 15 Nova point guards of all time?I have been watching Nova Bball sfor over 45 years. Not sure where you get that as when Arch is done , he will have scored over 1500 points, and will probably be in the top 4 all time assist leaders, with a real good assist to turnover ratio. One of the most clutch players too and totally unselfish. . Would take him over point guards like Wayns and Fisher for all he brings. Not to mention the fact that his class will probably end their 4 year careers with more wins than any Nova class in history, go to the dance every year and he was the leader. Look, this Nova team didn't have any clear cut , NBA bound superstars. On any given night a different player led the team. maybe that is why Arch got the coaches votes needed to be co-player of the year. He was the leader of the best team BY FAR in the league . He did have a great Big EAST regular season after his wrist healed. All that being said, You could also make the argument that Hilliard deserved it too. Understand your point.

JTVU,
I got that from the Villanova Rivals board. A great list, and the OP didn't even include Final Four floor leader Chris Ford or National Championship point guard Gary McLain. Impressive list. Point Guard University.

Villanova Poiunt Guards

Jim , great list. Arch will surely be in Top 10 when all is said and done . ( I believe the list was put together before Arch started his career). Record the last 2 years is 61-7, says it all. Would take him right now ( as a college player)over many on that list, such as McLain, Fischer, Wayns, Wilson, Nardi and even Lowry ( who was one of my favorites), who only spent 2 years at Nova. Absolute WINNER.

Without a doubt, no question bout it, the least talented player ever to have won the award.

Now that says something about his outstanding intangibles, the kids obviously a winner, but at the end of the day an embarrassing selection.

Bobojcd- the Big East is just not the same now is it? Embarrassing??? Ask the coaches who voted for him. sometimes it is not just about talent.

Jtvu - used to hate arcidiacano. Have grown to love him as a player. But can you honestly say he deserved POY honors, let alone 1st team all BE ? Think about the more deserving players who got screwed here. You just won the BE tourney and a 1 seed. Don't come off as a typical nova fan who thinks they are owed everything.

I didn't think it was a great choice, but what other players got "screwed" in this process? The conference was devoid of POY candidate frontcourt players, so the only choices were guards. Dunn, the conference's most NBA-ready player, shared the honor. The only other real candidate was Hilliard. Apparently it was a three-man race. Arcidiacono was a surprise choice, but the coaches have spoken.

It's just folks talking college basketball. Hoops fans aren't allowed to do that?

Jim, I was surprised that he got picked as I thought Hilliard may have had a better chance. I am happy for the kid as I have seen what he means to us for the last 3 years.
