MURRAY, KY. – Graduate student Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) fired a 1-under-par, 71, in the second round of the Jan Weaver Invitational to guide the Seton Hall women's golf team to a third place standing on Friday with 18 holes left to play.
After a 4-over-par, 76, in the opening round, Sager shaved five strokes off her score to register a 1-under-par, 71, in round two. It's her first sub-par round of the year and the 14th of her career. Sager had only one blemish in an otherwise dazzling second round. She had three birdies, 14 pars, and an unfortunate double-bogey on the par-4, No. 5 hole.
For the tournament, Sager is in sixth place among 73 individual golfers with a 3-over-par, 76-71-147. She trails a pair of individual leaders, Belmont's Delia Gibbs and Bradley's Taylor Ledwein by four strokes entering the final round.
As a team, Seton Hall shaved four strokes off its first-round score to finish with an 11-over-par, 299, in round two. Entering Saturday's final round, the Pirates trail the team leader, Central Arkansas, by four strokes with a 26-over-par, 303-299-602. Host Murray State is in second place, three strokes ahead of The Hall.
Freshman Ginevra Ricciardelli (Rome, Italy) fired a 2-over-par, 74, in the opening round, and shot a 5-over-par, 77, in the afternoon. After a rough start, she was just 1-over-par over the final 10 holes. For the tournament, Ricciardelli is tied for 15th place with a 7-over-par, 74-77-151.
Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) was consistent throughout Friday with a pair of 4-over-par, 76's. The graduate student is tied for second among all individuals with 26 pars through two rounds. Through two rounds, Win is tied for 21st place with an 8-over-par, 76-76-152.
After a 6-over-par, 78, in round one, senior Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) shaved off three strokes in round two for a 3-over-par, 75. She had two birdies and 11 pars in round two. For the tournament, Kness is tied for 25th at 9-over-par with a 78-75-153.
Junior Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) rounded out the Pirates' lineup on Friday. She shot a 5-over-par, 77, in the morning, and an 8-over-par, 80, in the afternoon. For the tournament, she is 13-over-par with a 77-80-157.

THE COURSE:
Frances E. Miller Memorial Golf Course presents a unique challenge for competitive and recreational golfers alike. Heralded as one of the west Kentucky lakes region's finest courses, Miller Memorial offers a variety of challenges for the most discriminating golfer.
Measuring 6,592 yards from the championship tees, the par-71 layout has two distinct nines which require a wide array of shot-making. The outward nine is set on hilly terrain and requires pinpoint accuracy from tee to green, whereas the inward half rewards length and accurate long iron play.
The longest hole on the course, the par-five 17th, is 535 yards long, while the shortest hole is the par-three 16th, measuring 171 yards. Professionally manicured MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermuda Grass Greens are surrounded by 50 sand bunkers, with three scenic water hazards also coming into play. The fairways feature automatically watered Bermuda grass.
THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Murray State, the field features 11 other teams including: Austin Peay State, Belmont, Bradley, Central Arkansas, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Georgia State, Stamford, Southern Illinois and Tennessee Tech.
TEE TIMES:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Friday, and one, final round on Saturday. There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on both days. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Belmont and Georgia State in round one.
