Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Wildcats: Villanova leads, 51-25

2023-24 Meetings:

Villanova 69, Seton Hall 41 (F) – Feb. 3, 2024 (Finneran Pavilion)

Villanova 50, Seton Hall 45 (F) – Jan. 3, 2024 (Walsh Gymnasium)

AGAINST VILLANOVA

Seton Hall and Villanova will resume their long rivalry as two original members of the BIG EAST Conference. The Wildcats have largely dominated the series, owning a 51-25 record in the all-time series. Villanova swept the 2023-24 season series, holding Seton Hall under 46 points in both contests. In all, the Wildcats have won five straight against the Pirates. The Hall’s last victory at Finneran Pavilion came during the 2020-21 season.

SCOUTING VILLANOVA

Last season, Villanova recorded its third consecutive 20-win season with a 22-13 overall record and an 11-7 conference mark. The Wildcats earned a bid to the first-ever WBIT where they registered wins over VCU, Virginia, Saint Joseph’s and Penn State before losing to Illinois in the title game. The Wildcats look to replace Lucy Olsen, Christina Dalce, Bella Runyan, and Zanai Jones. Villanova welcomes Holy Cross transfer Bronagh Power-Cassidy to the 2024-25 squad. The two-time Patriot League Championship MVP averaged 16.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in her final season as a Crusader.

This season, Villanova is picked to finish sixth in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference, one spot ahead of the Pirates.

The Wildcats enter Wednesday’s contest with a 7-6 overall record and a 1-0 mark in BIG EAST play. Although their non-conference record has been somewhat disappointing, Villanova has scored high-major victories over Wake Forest and Texas A&M with losses to strong competition including Baylor, Princeton and No. 16 North Carolina. Most recently, Villanova opened BIG EAST play with an impressive 71-57 victory over St. John’s on Dec. 21.

Breakout freshman Jasmine Bascoe currently leads the team and ranks ninth in the BIG EAST with 15.5 points per game.
