SCOUTING CCSU

Central Connecticut State is coming off a 17-22 season in 2022-23, which included a 3-13 record in Northeast Conference (NEC) play. The Blue Devils finished the season with a quarterfinal loss in the NEC Tournament to FDU, which was their seventh straight defeat.

CCSU was picked to finish ninth among the nine teams of the NEC according to the 2023-24 Coaches Preseason Poll. The Blue Devils have two starters returning from last season, Belle Lanpher and Meghan Kenefick. Lanpher was named to the 2023-24 Preseason All-NEC Women's Basketball Team. Head coach Way Veney is CCSU’s new head coach this season. She has made seven postseason trips as an assistant coach and brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience to CCSU.

The Blue Devils enter Friday with a 1-8 record having lost four straight games. Their lone victory was a 58-49 win over UMass Lowell on Nov. 21. Most recently, CCSU was routed by Albany on Wednesday, 56-37. Lanpher had a team-high 13 points. Samora Watson currently leads the team with 15.3 points per game.
