2015 Fall Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Head Coach Clay White announced the 2015 Seton Hall men's golf fall schedule on Monday. The Pirates will participate in five tournaments this fall.

Seton Hall will open the fall season as they have for five of the last six years, at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Missouri, Sept. 6-7. The Pirates placed sixth in a field of 11 teams in last year's event. Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) bested his teammates by four strokes in the final round with a 2-under-par, 70, to finish the three-round event at 11-over-par with a 78-79-70-227 to tie for 14th place among 58 individual golfers.

"Last year we didn't open too strong at Turning Stone, so will look to improve this coming fall," White said. "The course is a good test, and this year's field will have representation from the SEC, Big 12, ACC and two other BIG EAST teams (Villanova and Xavier). It will be a great way to kick off the fall season."

The following weekend, Seton Hall will attempt to defend its title at the Navy Fall Classic in Annapolis, Md., Sept. 13-14. The Pirates won their first team title in over two years, besting Delaware by one stroke with a 1-over-par, 284-285-569. Again it was O'Brien who led the Pirates with a 5-under-par, 66, in the final round, which is the third-lowest par-71 single-round score in program history. He finished tied for third among 56 individual golfers with a 4-under-par, 72-66-138.

"It's always great to go back to an event and defend a title," White said. "The field changes year to year in this event, so you never really know who you will face. It's is a course that, if you are hitting greens, you will have a lot of birdie opportunities inside 20 feet. As Kevin showed with his career-low 66.

For the fourth consecutive year, Seton Hall will participate in the Hartford Hawks Invitational, Sept. 21-22, at Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn. Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.) became only the 15th golfer in Seton Hall history to shoot under-par for a tournament and the Pirates finished fifth in a 19-team field last year. Snouffer shot all three rounds at par or better to finish in second place among 105 individual golfers.

Two weeks later, Seton Hall will return to the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the N.C. State Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. It will be the second straight year playing in this event and the third since 2011. Last year, the Pirates placed sixth among 18 teams at 25-over-par. Snouffer was the Pirates' low scorer again with an even-par, 74-68-71-213, to tie for eighth overall.

Finally, Seton Hall will close the fall season at a new tournament, the Mountaineer Intercollegiate. The Pirates will head to the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W. Va. for an event hosted by the newly created West Virginia University golf program, Oct. 19-20.

"West Virginia men's golf team will play for the first time in 30 years this fall after reinstating their program last year," White said. "This is an inaugural event, but Coach Covich has put together a pretty good field. We'll look to wrap up the fall on a strong note heading into the winter."
