Pirates Look to Defeat Marquette for Second time in 10 Days on Wednesday

>> Juniors Desi Rodriguez and Angel Delgado shot a combined 18-of-22 from the field for 45 points, and Seton Hall’s defense held DePaul to only 28 percent shooting in the second half as the Pirates pulled away for an 87-56 BIG EAST victory over the Blue Demons Saturday on Kids Day at Prudential Center. Rodriguez made his first 10 field goal attempts and finished with 25 points in 24 minutes, while Delgado recorded his ninth-consecutive double-double with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting and 12 rebounds. For their efforts, Rodriguez was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, and Delgado earned a spot on the weekly honor roll for the fifth week in a row, announced Monday by the league office.
>> SHU takes on Marquette for the second time in the last 10 days and is seeking its fourth straight victory over the Golden Eagles after previously trailing the all-time series, 3-15. After going winless in its first seven attempts at Marquette, The Hall has won the last two meetings in Milwaukee by an average of 15.0 points. The Pirates rang in 2017 with an exciting 69-66 New Year’s Day victory over the Golden Eagles in Newark. Junior Khadeen Carrington scored six points over the final 38 seconds and a staunch Pirates defense secured the tightly contested game that saw each team overcome an eight-point deficit.
