South Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall Giving Day 2025, held Wednesday, April 9 and Thursday, April 10, was a resounding success for Seton Hall Athletics, thanks to an outpouring of support from alumni, friends and family and diehard fans. The athletics department received 17.8 percent more donations and 36.1 percent more in donation dollars over 2024's Giving Day. In total with challenge matches included, 892 donors contributed $488,669 that will go towards supporting Seton Hall student-athletes.
The headlining challenge was a 250 donors for $250,000 campaign that benefited men's basketball revenue sharing. A group of anonymous supporters banded together to deliver the $250,000 promise if 250 fans donated towards revenue share, and Pirate Nation came through, reaching 250 Thursday evening.
Women's basketball also received a revenue share gift, thanks to two donors who pledged $15,000 if 100 supporters donated, which occurred Thursday evening.
For the 12th straight year, Pirate Blue was issued its 50-state challenge by an anonymous donor, who pledged $50,000 if the department received at least one donation from someone in all 50 U.S. States on the first day of Giving Day. The Pirates again completed the challenge during the 5 p.m., Eastern, hour on Wednesday, unlocking the $50,000.
Alumnus Joe Kacirek '81 issued a 100 donors for $10,000 challenge to support the swimming & diving teams, and Pirate Nation also successfully gave to this initiative, securing the 100th donor Thursday evening.
The 2K varsity team challenge was back for a third year. The 14 varsity sports were broken up into divisions, and the team in each division that had the most Giving Day donors won an extra $2,000 gift that goes towards supporting the program. The winners of the extra $2,000 gift were men's golf, women's soccer, swimming & diving and volleyball.
The Pirate Blue Athletic Fund directly supports the Seton Hall Department of Athletics and its student-athletes.
