NOTES YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Seton Hall men's basketball team will tussle with Oklahoma State in a BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle contest on Sunday at 12 p.m. on FS1 as the Pirates and Cowboys meet on the hardwood for just the second time.
- This is Seton Hall's first home game in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle since its 64-60 victory over Texas on Dec. 9, 2021 at Prudential Center.
- It's the Pirates' lone victory in BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle action as they've gone 1-3 in the showcase since its inaugural season in 2019-20.
- This will be just Seton Hall's second BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle home game after serving as the road team in three of its four Battle games, including two contests against top 10 teams (at No. 9 Kansas, 12/1/22; at No. 6 Baylor, 12/5/23)
- The Hall has clashed with Oklahoma State just one other time in its history and it came in Sweet 16 of the 2000 NCAA Tournament at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
- The Cowboys ended the Pirates' Cinderella run with a 68-66 victory on March 24, 2000 as Seton Hall was without its starting point guard and current head coach Shaheen Holloway, who had suffered a broken ankle early in its upset win over Temple in the second round.
- The Pirates are coming off of a 67-56 win over NJIT at Prudential Center on Wednesday where Prince Aligbe scored a career-high 19 points and Garwey Dual added 11 points in 21 minutes.
- Dylan Addae-Wusu returned after a one-game absence while recovering from illness and contributed with 12 points off the bench.
- Among active players in Div. I, Dylan Addae-Wusu ranks 31st in games played (136), 17th in steals (189) and 47th in assists (375).
- Addae-Wusu and Creighton's Ryan Kalkbrenner share the lead among active players with 78 career BIG EAST games played.
- NJIT is the fifth opponent that Seton Hall has held under 60 points this season.
- The Pirates boast one of the top defenses in Div. I, ranking 22nd in KenPom defensive efficiency, second in scoring defense (56.6 ppg) and 32nd in field goal percentage defense (38.2 pct).
- The Pirates are recently coming off of a third-place finish at the Charleston Classic where they went 2-1 with top-100 KenPom wins over VCU (40) and Florida Atlantic (96).
- Their third-place finish in Charleston was The Hall's best finish at an MTE since winning the Wooden Legacy in 2018-19.
- Isaiah Coleman was named to the Charleston Classic All-Tournament Team and the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in three games.
- Coleman posted his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against VCU and had a career-high 20 points against Vanderbilt.
- Coleman later matched his career-high against Monmouth as he registered the second 20-point game of the season and his career on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor.
- The Pirates are 4-1 on the season when Chaunce Jenkins is their leading scorer.
- Jenkins has scored in double-figures in six of Seton Hall's nine games this season and he went over 1,000 career points on Nov. 13 against Hofstra.
- The Pirates were 9-4 in games decided by 10 points or less last season and are 3-2 in those contests this season.
