Final Stats

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Seton Hall women’s basketball team turned in a dominant performance to pick up a 92-56 victory at Liberty on Saturday evening at the Vines Center. The Pirates (9-1) got a game-high 21 points from Tiffany Jones (New York, N.Y.) and held the Lady Flames (3-6) to 18 points in the second half in the triumph.

Jones was one of four Pirates in double-figures, as all 10 Pirates that saw the floor found their way onto the scoresheet in a complete effort. Shakena Richardson (Neptune, N.J.) scored 12 points and dished out a career-high nine assists, while Martha Kuderer (Eden Prairie, Minn.) poured in 11 points off the bench as part of the Pirate bench scoring 34 points, a season-high.

The Pirates led by eight after an up-and-down first half before tightening the clamps on the defensive end in the second half. The Hall out-scored the Lady Flames 46-18 in the second half and held Liberty to 3-of-25 shooting (12.0 percent) in the final stanza. The Pirates out-rebounded the Lady Flames, 42-32, becoming only the second team this season to win the rebounding battle against Liberty.

Turning Point

After Liberty pulled within five at the tail end of the second quarter, Jordan Mosley (Orlando, Fla.) knocked down a 3-pointer on the final possession of the half to give the Pirates a 46-38 advantage going into the break. The advantage helped to spark The Hall to a 20-10 edge in the third quarter, opening up a double-digit lead it would not relent.

Head Coach Anthony Bozzella on the result

“I have so much respect for the Liberty program…our kids played really well, very unselfish. Really our bench was great, I’m so proud of them.”
