BOX

Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior Phoebe Hampson (Cheshire, England) scored her second career goal late in the first half that cut Seton Hall's deficit to two but it was the Pirates' lone tally in 90 minutes as they fell to La Salle, 3-1, in their first road contest of the season.

The Pirates (3-2) out-shot the Explorers, 11-6, and didn't let La Salle get a shot of in the second half. The loss snapped Seton Hall's three-match win streak.

How It Happened

La Salle's first goal came in the 12th minute and it followed with two more scores in the next 15 minutes to take a commanding 3-0 lead. In the 42nd minute, Hampson gave The Hall one of its best chances of the contest as her shot required a strong save made by the Explorers' keeper that went out of bounds for a corner kick. Freshman Lily Camacho (Scotch Plains, N.J.) took the corner and drove it into the area. After bouncing in front of the net, the ball landed in front Hampson and she delivered her first goal of the season.

The Pirates came out on the right foot at the start of the second half as they controlled the pace and took ground in their attacking third. Despite out-shooting La Salle 5-0 in the final 45 minutes, it wasn't enough to at least come out with a tie in Philadelphia.

Inside the Box Score
  • Seton Hall out-shot La Salle 11-6 but the Explorers had five shots on goal to Seton Hall's three.
  • Senior Brina Micheels (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) and junior Sophie Liston (Limerick, Ireland) both finished with a team-high three shots.
  • Hampson had two shots and both were on goal.
