Seton Hall participates in "It's On Us" Week of ActionApril 14, 2015

NEW YORK -- As part of the continuing campaign to end sexual assault on college campuses, the BIG EAST Conference and its member institutions, including Seton Hall University,will join the White House and other national organizations as participants in the "It's On Us" Week of Action, April 12-19. The BIG EAST will feature its member schools' initiatives across the Conference's various media platforms, including the BIG EAST website, the BIG EAST Digital Network and social media.
The BIG EAST joined the NCAA and other sports organizations in becoming a charter partner of "It's On Us" in September 2014. Launched by President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, the "It's On Us" campaign aims to fundamentally shift the way the world thinks about sexual assault and encourages students to create safe environments across college campuses -- from dorms and locker rooms to fraternities and sororities. To participate, students, coaches, administrators, community members and beyond are asked to take a pledge to be part of the solution at www.ItsOnUs.org.
"The BIG EAST and its 10 member schools are committed to continuing our efforts on behalf of the "It's On Us" movement, which has brought national attention to the problem of sexual assaults on college campuses," said Commissioner Val Ackerman. "Our conference office, schools, coaches and student-athletes are in a unique position to leverage their leadership roles to raise awareness for this important cause and to help keep our campuses safe and violence-free.
In South Orange, Seton Hall student-athletes, in conjunction with the H.A.L.L. Program, continued their commitment to ending sexual assault by running a public service announcement at all home men's basketball games during the 2014-15 season. The video was included in e-marketing pieces sent to thousands of people encouraging them to take the pledge.
This week at all Seton Hall baseball and softball games, the Pirates will run the public service announcement and continue to raise awareness.
