South Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall Athletics is taking on cancer at a men's & women's basketball game in 2024, and to help raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer, the department is auctioning off the opportunity to put the name of a loved one afflicted by cancer on the back of shooting shirts that the teams will wear at a designated game. The auction for both teams begins today, Jan. 5, and will end on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

The men's Seton Hall vs. Cancer night is slated for Saturday, Feb. 24 when The Hall takes on Butler at Prudential Center at 8:30 p.m. The women's Seton Hall vs. Cancer day will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17 when the Pirates host DePaul at Walsh Gymnasium at 1 p.m. At each of those games, student-athletes will wear the shooting shirts that have been auctioned off, and then the auction winners will receive the shirt afterwards.

New this year, Seton Hall Athletics will donate the proceeds from the Seton Hall vs. Cancer auction to the V Foundation's Dick Vitale Pediatric Cancer Fund in honor of Seton Hall alumnus and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Dick Vitale '62, a staunch supporter of cancer research who has been diagnosed with and beaten cancer on three separate occasions.

Here's How It Works:
  • Go to SHUPirates.com/auctions
  • Click "Login" at the top right and create a new account or login to your existing account
  • Select which numbered shooting shirt you would like to bid on
    • Note: there are identical numbers on both teams (e.g. No. 1 exists on both men's & women's teams), make sure you know which team you are bidding on
  • Place a bid (bids are in increments of $10)
  • Winning bidders will be contacted by the athletics department to finalize the name on the back of the shirt. Winners must provide the name by Friday, Jan. 19.
