VIDEO: WATCH STEPHEN CURRY’S PERSONAL INVITATION TO ISAIAH WHITEHEAD

South Orange, N.J. – Isaiah Whitehead (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the Seton Hall men’s basketball team has received a personal video invitation from NBA MVP Stephen Curry to attend his 2015 Select Camp, to be held in the Bay Area of California this summer. Whitehead was one of four college guards to be invited to serve as a college counselor for the 20 invited high school athletes while also getting a chance to work out with Curry, who was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player earlier this week and is a two-time NBA All-Star.

The Stephen Curry Select Camp, started in 2014, is sponsored by Under Armour Association and invites the top 20 guards in the world to train with Curry and his college counselors in a private, four-day workout. Whitehead’s invitation came in the form of a YouTube video, in which Curry congratulates Whitehead on a great freshman season, tells him that the offseason is about getting better and invites him to the Select Camp to help him and the high school invitees get better.

A 2014 McDonald’s All-American and member of Seton Hall’s national top 15 recruiting class of 2014, Whitehead burst onto the college scene for Seton Hall in 2014-15, averaging 12.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists. His scoring average would have led all BIG EAST freshmen and ranked in the conference’s top 15 overall, but he did not qualify in the conference statistics due to missing nine games with a foot injury.

A two-time BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and BIG EAST All-Rookie team selection, Whitehead delivered eight 15-points or more performances, including 25 points against Rutgers in the Garden State Hardwood Classic, garnering Joe Calabrese MVP honors. He also had nine games of five assists or more and had the team-high in assists 11 out of 22 games played.

Despite playing in only 10 of 18 conference games, Whitehead averaged 12.2 points and 3.6 assists in the BIG EAST. In his first-ever conference game, he delivered 19 points, three assists and three steals in a win over Xavier. He also had a 20-point effort at Providence and had five or more assists three times, including a career-high seven dishes in a win over Creighton.

For the second summer in a row, Stephen Curry will be hosting a camp for some of the nation’s best high school guards. This year, he sent out personalized invitations for SC30 Select Camp to each and every one of the kids that were invited.

This season, in addition to the high school guards that will be in attendance, Under Armor is inviting college guards to come back and work as counselors at the event in addition to being able to workout with the NBA MVP himself.

Maryland’s Melo Trimble, Notre Dame’s Demetrius Jackson, Seton Hall’s Isaiah Whitehead and Northwestern’s Bryant McIntosh are the four college counselors that have been invited, and here is what Steph sent them:

I hope Isaiah goes in there on Day 1 and bodies Curry, takes him to the basket and jams on him. The Warriors are soft and Isaiah's gonna show this guy what Seton Hall power ball is all about.

Steph Curry and the Warriors know how to play ball. Seton Hall power ball? Does that mean our guards driving into triple teams and getting the ball stripped? We have seen plenty of that.

Curry is talented but has great basketball smarts. Hopefully Isaiah will get a chance to learn some things from Curry.
