South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall University graduate, member of the Seton Hall Board of Trustees and chairman of the Seton Hall Board of Regents Pat Murray ’64, MBA ’72 and his wife, Mary Ann Murray, have generously made a gift to the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund to benefit the Athletics Department’s annual Leadership Forum, which was designed to give student-athletes an opportunity to network with distinguished professionals and have a career-oriented discussion. The Leadership Forum, which will be in its fifth year in 2016, will now be known as The Patrick M. and Mary Ann Pfaff Murray Leadership Forum for Student-Athletes.
The Murrays’ gift will also help fund the Athletics Department’s renovation of the Richie Regan Athletics Center lobby, which is currently undergoing a transformation that will include the new Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame, an inviting entrance area and new administrative offices.
“We are very thankful and humbled by Pat and Mary Ann’s transformative gift,” Seton Hall Vice President and Director of Athletics & Recreation Services Pat Lyons said. “Pat and Mary Ann have chosen to invest in the futures of our student-athletes because they recognize the importance of developing into leaders and planning for life after graduation. Their loyal support is indicative of the leadership qualities they possess, and we can’t think of a more fitting honor than to have our Leadership Forum bear their name.”
“Mary Ann and I are pleased to contribute to the continued development of the Seton Hall Athletics program,” Pat Murray said. “The Leadership Forum is a very important part of the student-athlete experience at Seton Hall. We look forward to being a part of the H.A.L.L. program and sharing our experiences with the student-athletes.”
A cornerstone of the Helping Athletes Learn to be Leaders (H.A.L.L.) Program, the Patrick M. and Mary Ann Pfaff Murray Leadership Forum for Student-Athletes brings student-athletes and distinguished professionals together for an engaging conversation on developing job skills during college, what employers look for in prospective job candidates, being proactive with internships, the importance of networking and more. In addition to the formal panel discussion, student-athletes have the opportunity to engage with the speakers on a 1-on-1 basis afterwards.
Past featured guest speakers of Leadership Forum have included:
Part of Seton Hall’s Pride & Excellence Campaign, the renovation of the Richie Regan Athletics Center lobby will bring an exciting new look that will be inviting to all who enter. The Seton Hall branded lobby will feature a new entrance, new administrative offices and a brand new Hall of Fame exhibit that will be a celebration of The Hall’s rich athletics tradition, recognize the members of the Hall of Fame, commemorate top student-athletes and teams and serve as a gathering place for events.
In addition to naming the Leadership Forum, the Murrays’ gift is going specifically towards the enhancement of the administrative offices that currently sit on the third floor. The offices, conference room and kitchen will be reconfigured to deliver better work and meeting environments. Each office will receive new furniture and flat screen television connections. New carpeting and decor that matches the aesthetics of the building’s other renovations will be installed, and they will be branded with Seton Hall marks and colors.
