Way too early for talks of Willard being fired but when does that ever stop us?

Lets take our hearts out of the equation and list Sha's resume. Then decide if he should be handed the reigns next year.

Good/Great college player.
Never played in the NBA
Supposed to have respect from local HS and AAU coaches but that has not gotten us recruiting results.
Not a proven recruiter. Second place does not cut it.
Assistant under Gonzo - Nut - and Willard - poor coach at best. Both who had bad records.
Controversy surrounding his teams under Gonzo and Willard. Like it or not that will stay with Sha.

With that said I would still not be terribly upset if we hired him after first looking at other options.

We're 4 games into the BE season. Can we at least wait until it's concluded before we start this? I'm just as frustrated as the next guy over Saturday and the past 5-6 years now, but let's see how they handle this.

Looks like Shaheen started college ball with a 54% FT shooting average. That slowly climbed to 78% by is senior year. If our guys arent shooting as many FTs as he did day in and day out he could be just as ineffective getting through to the players as willard is. thats just one super dumbed down example.

Sha is the associate head coach and part of this mess and should not be considered as our next head coach.

Much too premature to be talking about this, but if it ever became the situation I would be fine with Sha taking over. I think the fact that he is a Seton Hall guy thru and thru is a big positive.

Go ask Rutgers fans how Eddie Jordan is working out. Hiring a guy because he is loved by fans of the school is just silly. Holloway could turn into a great head coach. No one knows. Seton Hall can't roll the dice with this next hire like they did with Willard. Need a proven winner.

It makes no sense to be talking about anyone replacing KW since there has been no sign that the administration has shown any interest in making a change no matter what the results on the court have been or how many times there have been issues between the players and the coach. If that ever happens then we can start the discussion about candidates for our head coach including Sha .

The only way Sha should be our Head Coach is if we have considerable success under Willard and he leaves for another position. If KW is fired we need to start fresh....again. Sha should be under consideration for the same role he is in.

Maybe what's his name has the stones to resign like Dave Rice did out here 3 games into the MWC season. Of course, many here are speculating that after meeting with the AD Rice was given the choice to resign or else in his 4th year on the job.

Similarities between what's his name and Rice - Rice had a winning MWC record during his tenure, has had overall stellar recruiting classes, top 10, including a lottery pick or 2, actually went to the NCAAs, and has had transfers in and out, and team chemistry problems. OK only the last 2 are similar, but stand out the most. Say adios like a man what's your name.

I disagree with everyone saying "You can't talk about the next coach". Watching this board over the last three cycles, this is an accurate portrayal of how the discussion gets responded to.

Responses to posts in November-April:
"Let the season play out"
"Show respect to the coach and players"
"You're not a real fan"

Responses to posts in May-October:
"Let Lyons do his job"
"He's staying so why post this"
"He wasn't let go so the decisions already been made"

Obviously the people on this board are just throwing out hypotheticals for who they wish would coach Seton Hall. We are on a fan message board. People aren't having the discussion outside Willard's office.

I don't want to see Sha be the coach. Let him go to another program and spread his wings without the stigma of what happened while he was an Assistant. If he goes out and coaches up a Low or Mid-major D1 school, he can stand all on his own for a great job. There are a lot of successful Mid and High-major D1 coaches with proven records. The question is who can Lyons lure to the Hall.

Living in Los Angles and having friends who work for FOX, there is a hot east coast name buzzing around. Hopefully, we don't have to change coaches, but if we have a repeat of last year, I am very curious to see if Lyons has the smarts to interview this guy. Probably the worst kept secret that one of the problems with the team is we have certain players who do not treat the staff with the respect they deserve. These players need to grow up and mature quickly. I think Holloway would be an excellent choice to take over, but the program would need a total cleanse from top to bottom. There are still 14 games to play. I have plenty of faith in this squad to bounce back so we can discuss dancing instead of a coaching change.

Amazing. You would never know that going into he Creighton game we had won 7 of our last 8 games & the only loss was at Vilanova.

This is a weird comment. I thought maybe you were referring to conference play only, but if you make the statement "seven of our last eight games were wins, you are obviously talking about OOC as well. We've lost 3 games prior to Creighton, which is why we were being projected as a bubble team on the inside of the bubble. That was prior to Creighton. We may be outside the bubble now.

Why are you amazed? We all have seen this show before, we know how it ends. What historical or current evidence do we have for thinking otherwise?

If I had my way, I'd move Shaheen over today, and send Willard packing. He can't possibly do any worse. Re-evaluate at season's end, and either get someone who can do the job, or give Shaheen the staff he needs to succeed. He probably could keep enough of a team together so that we wouldn't be starting, again, from absolute zero.

It's been 5 years of crap. Maybe a 6th. But we're not in the mud yet and I'd personally like to try to enjoy a season while it still has life.

Would you say we're in sludge? Actually, I think we're approaching dog poop territory - again!
