SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall women's basketball Head Coach Anthony Bozzella announced on Monday that former Pirate great Shakena Richardson has returned to the program as its new Director of Basketball Operations.

A BIG EAST All-Conference Honorable Mention and Third Team All-Met pick, Richardson concluded her collegiate eligibility with a graduate transfer season at The Hall in 2015-16. The New Jersey-native ranked third on the squad and top-15 in the BIG EAST with 12.4 points per game while ranking second in the league with 5.6 assists per contest. Additionally, her 175 assists on the year marked the second-most in program history. The 5-foot-4 point guard poured in 20 points in a game on four occasions, including in a pair of BIG EAST Tournament contests to earn All-Tournament honors. Richardson also led The Hall with 47 steals on the year.

"We're so excited to have Shakena back here in our family at Seton Hall," Bozzella said. "I know she will again be a great asset to our program, and I look forward to working with her and welcoming back another talented familiar face."

Most notably, Richardson became the first Pirate to ever be selected in the WNBA Draft when she was taken 30th overall by the Dallas Wings in 2016. She spent the preseason with the Wings, before playing professionally in Lithuania, Puerto Rico and Ireland.

This will be Richardson's second stint as part of Bozzella's staff having served as coordinator of basketball operations in 2017-18, while she completed her graduate studies. She handled day-to-day management, and assisted in team travel, academic support, scouting, nutrition and recruiting.

Richardson rejoins the Pirates after spending a season as assistant coach at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. She also spent a year at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va. where she was the top assistant coach working with perimeter players and directing the Wildcats' recruiting, scouting, travel, apparel, social media and community service efforts.

We have a Director of Basketball Operations and a coordinator of basketball operations, too?
