I interviewed 2024 CG Lorenzo ‘LJ’ Cason recently and he mentioned that Seton Hall is one of the schools he is hearing from the most. Rasheen Davis is his lead recruiter and he said “We don't even really talk about basketball. It's like just life at this point. Like a mentor.”
Cason also said that he talks to Shaheen Holloway “a little bit.”
The other schools he said he is hearing from the most are say FAU, Murray State, Indiana State and Chattanooga. Today he heard from Cincinnati and Mississippi State. Florida and Florida State are monitoring him. The Gators had him up for an unofficial visit June 26. If Florida offers Cason they will be very tough to beat imo.
In both his junior and sophomore seasons, Cason averaged 27.6 points per game. Ranking him top-five in the FHSAA both years but he did more than just score. Cason also averaged 7.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.8 blocks over those two seasons.
If he was at Montverde Academy or IMG Academy he’d be a four-star prospect and in the Rivals150. Unfortunately for him, he is at a small school in Lakeland, FL that isn’t known for basketball and he runs with an AAU team that was an independent until this year when it joined the NXTPro circuit (New Balance).
Rivals is only paying two people to cover AAU tournaments and their focus has not included the NXTPro circuit.
Cason is a high scoring CG with size & strength, above avg athlete, can create off bounce. He has improved as a perimeter shooter (made 41.5 percent during his junior HS season, up from 27 percent his sophomore season). This kid is trending up.
