Some thoughts

3 point shooting really bad.

Free throw shooting not much better

Assists to turnovers also poor

Thank God we hang our hat on our D and rebounding.

It been going down game by game. Hitting 1/3 of your 3's in this day and age is not a good percentage for most quality teams.

What has gone unnoticed is that we have 8 players averaging double digit minutes which is an indication that we're slowly building a deeper , higher quality bench. When you consider , as of now , that we're only losing Gordon from this year's team and adding Thomas and Powell the bench will be a little deeper next year. Would love to see us add a legitimate 5 next year , something a lot of us have been asking for what seems like forever.

Position is wide open for a recruit who wants to play and play with a good team that's missing his talents. Doesn't necessarily have to be a great offensive player, wouldn't hurt, but need his defensive ability..

If we were able to fill that spot with a high quality graduate senior next year's team, IMO, is definitely a top 25 team and a serious BE contender.

Uncharacteristic of a Willard team is the fact that we don't even feature the 3PT shot as an option. Our 3PA:FGA raio is 310th in the country. So he's definitely coaching to the team's strengths.

We win games with good defense, offensive rebounding, and athletic players who can get to the rim and draw fouls. The more we can turn defense into offense, the better. If this team continues to play maturely and focuses on the defensive end, it could be the most talented defensive team Willard has had here, or at least on par with his first team at SHU.

The half-court offense is an adventure for this team. You're not going to see this team cleanly whip the ball around and generate outside shots. On the A:FGM statistic, we are just 228th in the nation and we're also just 272nd in offensive turnover percentage.

I really believe the new rules are helping this team because of our ability to slash and drive and get to the line. I'd like to see more of those plays with Desi dribbling through the middle and getting that left handed shot off. And more cuts to the basket would help as well because our guys can score inside and get to the line.

Free throw shooting was great in our two big road wins and it's no coincidence. This team should work like hell on FTs every single practice. We need to get better from the line as that is a big part of scoring this year and for this team.

We've had a number of teams in recent years that were unable to put the ball on the floor and create, so this is good to see. Now if we can just find some balance with an offense it would make us even that much better and consistent.

As long as he's on his left hand. When he goes right it's a disaster waiting to happen.

Desi has really improved his game. Now he must work on his right hand in the off season.
