--Congratulations to the Pirates for grinding out two Big East road victories that were needed if they are going to earn an NCAA bid.
--The Pirates have now reached 20 wins for the third year in a row. That's consistency. And they've done it with tons of injuries and a better schedule.
--The MVP of the weekend is probably Tiffany Jones who is looking so much better after a mid-season funk, finishing the day with 14 points and 16 rebounds after going for 14 and 14 on Friday.
That's 28 points and 30 rebounds in two games.
--Major kudos to Shakeena Richardson for playing 56 minutes this weekend minutes while she's hurt.
--Despite fouling out, Lubirdia Gordon had a great defensive game today with six blocks.
--Then there's Alesha Powell who has been outstanding for a month. She gets better with all parts of her game as the season continues. She's peaking at the right time.
--One of the announcers commented a few times about the play of TRS by saying she looked "passive."
She took 37 shots this weekend and made 10. She took 15 3-point shots and made four.
I'm not sure what's wrong, but lets hope that she at least continues to try to play great D and rebound.
--There was a little bad blood between Bozzella and the Xavier coach after they both got hit with a T. There was a drive-by hand shake at the end of the game.
--So now the Pirates end their regular season at home next Friday night and Sunday night. Let's pack Walsh. The Pirates are fighting for second place in the Big East and an NCAA bid.
Go Pirates!
