Things worked out well for us in the long run. McCaffery can coach but he can also be a real jerk. And his wife is legendary. Good or bad he would not have hung around IMO.
I've never believed the pursuit of McCaffrey was serious. Not on our end -- I'm sure Hobbs was very interested -- but on Fran's side. We were a decent fall back option if Iowa didn't work out. Truthfully, he might have been more interested in staying at Siena for another year although he had probably maxed out that job.
I agree with 112 above, McCaffrey would have been a short-timer at Seton Hall. I think he might have found a way to better utilize what was left behind to have some success but I'm not sure he would have been here for year three if that happened.
