Was not a factor in this game offensively.

Was very impressed though with his hustle. Especially getting back on a Georgetown fast break. When the ref blew the whistle on the G'Town layup, was expecting a chance for a three point play to cut into our lead.....instead it was an offensive foul and no damage done.

The Georgetown fan sitting next to me nearly crapped himself.

Defense and rebounding.

Nice to out-tough one of the historically toughest teams in the conference.

Good time to be a Pirate fan. Lets enjoy our underclassmen.

Go Pirates.

I never bought into expectations as a starter either, but if he gets stronger and faster, he could be a factor next year. That play where he got the offensive foul, Singh was barely touched and he went flying like a feather in the wind.

He got bumped with a shoulder while running hard and not expecting to be hit.

As far as him being a starter, wasn't he slated as starting 3 in preseason. Was that just speculation, or based on the coaches words?

No speculation at all. He was going to start the first game of the season before he got hurt.

In our intrasquad exhibition he hit 6-7 shots from the arc. SHU needed a standstill shooter and it looked like he would be the one.

Unfortunately his early play did not translate once the season began and he is just a back end of the rotation player right now.

It's water under the bridge, but perhaps the talk of starting Singh was to light a fire under Desi based on the way information had come out about Desi and Willard.

He's got all the earmarks of a kid who has the tools, but doesn't really catch up with the game until he's seen a season and then has an offseason to process it. Of course, if he works anything like Sonogo, that will help him come back a better player, too, but I do expect him to take a leap forward next year.

That was a pretty big turning point! I was amazed he got that call; if he didn't bounce off like he did, probably a basket and one. IIRC, we scored on the next possession to stretch the lead again.

He's got a long way to go, but he's going to be a good player for us. You can see the signs. The game is a bit quick and strong for him right now and he struggles to compensate.

Best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores.

Give it time.

Yes, Veer has a way to go and that's okay. He might not be getting the minutes now that he was earlier in the season but I'm still seeing some improvements as far as understanding defense and hustle.
I love that he always has his hands up and is ready to receive the ball and shoot it. I'm glad we have him and I expect him to just get better over the next 3 years.

When was the last time an indian guy played for a major D1 school? Totally out of the ordinary and totally rooting for him. I believe he will be a great 4 year player and im a big fan.

one thing, how does he find court time next year? everyone is one year older AND we have one of the best 3 pint shooters coming in... or is this what depth feels like?

I thought I read earlier this year that Veer was the only player of Indian descent on any Division I roster. Is that possible? I guess. I don't usually watch the games with this in mind, but I have thought about it since seeing that, and I can't recall any who I thought could be. I guess it really means nothing, but it's still kind of cool, I think.

I always thought the Bhullar brothers at New Mexico State were. Sim entered the drafted and his younger brother Tanveer is still at the program, I think. Both are like 7'3, 300 lb montsters.

If Veer starts draining threes we'll have to come up with a cheer that incorporates Venaloo or Tika Masalla

I'll tell it again. I've told it on here a few times. Arsalan Kazemi was at SHU on a recruiting trip and I guess we were pressuring him for a verbal. He wouldn't do it. Gonzo was venting to one of the assistants, DOBO or whoever and said something to the effect of " I don't care what that towelhead wants, etc etc etc", with his usage of "towelhead" being the obvious kicker to the story. Well, Kazemi was within earshot of Gonzo when he used the term, and that was end of our chances with him, who ended up being a solid contributor when he transferred from Rice to Oregon.

In summation, Gonzo is the best. The stories are never ending with that lunatic.

Thanks for repeating the story! I now remember you saying it.........sorry........forgot.
