Six Pirates Earn CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Six members of the Seton Hall men's soccer team have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. James Boote (Southampton, England), Luca Dahn (Kahl, Germany), JP Marin (Briarwood, N.Y.), Johannes Pex (Stephansposching, Germany), Hannes Ronnholmen (Stockholm, Sweden) and Mark Walier (Holmdel, N.J.) each received the honor.

The Pirates were one of 25 NCAA Division I men's soccer programs to receive six honorees on the All-District Team.

Boote appeared in 17 matches during his senior season, starting 16 of them. He scored his first career goal on Oct. 22 against Villanova, a strike which proved to be the game-winner in a 2-1 win. Boote's nine assists during the 2020 season were the fourth most in the country. He has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team three times, and was the 2021 Seton Hall Co-Sophomore Male Athlete of the Year. Boote is a Marketing major with a 3.888 cumulative GPA.

Dahn has been a defensive stalwart throughout his time in South Orange, playing full-time in 47 of his 50 career matches. Dahn made the start in all 50 of those matches, accumulating five goals and two assists over his career. This past season, he was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Dahn is pursuing his MBA and owns a cumulative GPA of 3.971.

Marin tallied a pair of goals and three assists for seven points this past season, and was one of three Pirates to start all 18 matches. He has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team four times, and was named Seton Hall's Sophomore, Junior and Senior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2020, 2021 and 2022, respectively. Marin is pursuing a graduate certificate in Business Analytics and owns an undergraduate GPA of 3.902.

Pex starred alongside Dahn on the backline for the Pirates over his three seasons. The defender showed off his offensive prowess as well, tallying 10 goals and 10 assists for 30 points over his 49 career matches. This past season, his four assists were tied for the team lead. He is a two-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Pex is a Finance and Technology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.889.

Ronnholmen put together a strong season in 2022 as he became the primary goalkeeper for the Pirates. He appeared in 17 matches and notched six shutouts, tied for the second-most in a single-season in program history. He is a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Ronnholmen is a double major in Business Finance and Information Technology Management with a cumulative GPA of 3.978.

Walier has been a key reserve for the Pirates throughout his time in South Orange and appeared in 14 matches this past season. He picked up back-to-back starts earlier this season in matches against Army and Xavier. Walier was named Seton Hall Co-Freshman Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2021, and was honored as Seton Hall's Sophomore Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2022. He is a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic honoree. Walier is a double major in Business Finance and Information Technology Management with a cumulative GPA of 4.0.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
