Poll released today reported 59 % of Dems polled had positive view of socialism.I realize it is only one but I believe more polls in furture will confirm this increasing trend even if numbers not as high.

The issue here is one of definition.

In the debate of pure socialism versus pure capitalism there is no question that capitalism is the more efficient way to distribute scarce resources.

While capitalism is not perfect It is superior to socialism.

However most people that refer to socialism don't mean pure socialism they mean some form of hybrid socialism with a capitalist system that pays for their socialism.

Therein lies the true rub.

IMO, socially responsible capitalism is the ideal economic system.

Do you think the US as a country is a pure capitalistic economy? Do we as a country benefit from some sort of socialistic programs in the country?

I guess Teddy Roosevelt was a socialist for breaking up monopolies like Standard Oil. What about social security, Labor unions, medicare, welfare, minimum wage, child labor laws these are all social programs or ideas. Do you prefer no government regulation so that companies can pollute our water and land. Cause yes, government regulation is socialistic. Pure capitalism is a horrible and leads to abuse. That is why we have a mixed economy. But this country will never be a socialistic country. People just have no idea what socialism Is and how far we are from it

Realize there are different policies that can be socialist in nature without having pure socialist economy as most people do.I was referring to systems like the Pope’s beloved Argentina that was ranked 9th in per capita GDP in 1900 and 49th in 2000.Pope should be a little more worried about the effects of socialism than capitalism. The people that responded to this poll already knew we had social security,Medicare, welfare etc.It is ironic that educated on the far left want more socialism in the US when capitalism is providing more benefits to the poor than Sander’s beloved Venezuela ,for example.CERNj SHU Hope this clarifies.I wasn’t suggesting that there be no government regulation etc.So called Democratic Socialism being advanced by far left in. The likes of AOC and Sanders is What is more of a clear and present danger.

There noting in your OP to infer that you were. Doing so is putting your words in your mouth.

No clarification was needed.
