I've gotten two renewal notices in recent weeks. I've been contemplating for some time if I had wanted to renew. My subscription -- originally my brothers -- is more than 50 years old.

It's a shame but the end has been coming ever since Time Warner spun off Time Inc. 10 years ago. The sales to Meredith and current owner Authentic Brands Group in recent years further eroded stability. The move from weekly to monthly a few years back forced them to change focus -- it was less about breaking news and more about longer-form story telling.

Authentic has been licensing the name to Arena Sports since they took over so they can theoretically find a new partner to continue publication.

Thanks for the kind comments. Writing is a passion in my post ad agency days (I was a client/brand/strategy guy but anyone in the business had to know how to write). Nice when people appreciate it. It is not a monetary pursuit, only personal fullfillment as the income product.

Nope has nothing to do with wokeness...has to do with Time Inc. selling away and then Meredith spinning it off....

Everyone keeps saying it’s not, but it’s been happening a lot lately, coincidences maybe, you are correct where times are changing, but you can’t completely discount it playing a part of the downfall..
