There are thoughts that Yetna may be a lock with Richmond and Rhoden to start. Who takes the final 2 spots vs FDU?

pick the 2 most likely players to start with them.

That’s true, I guess besides Richmond and Yetna, most likely 3 other starters tomorrow.

I think Rhoden will be playing but let’s assume he won’t for this thread.

My prediction, same as last game.

Richmond
Harris
Cale
Jackson
Yetna

Jackson might not just be preseason hype?

I think its a mistake not starting IKE
he sets the tone early and will be more effective
I get this point but with KR I think we will spread floor a lot more and KW going to go with the 3 pt metrics he likes….my guess
Still makes me worry but maybe I’m just old

They should just throw lob after lob after lob to Ike. That won’t work against better competition but FDU has no defense for that. It’s a cheat code.

But what if he keeps lowering his hands after catching the pass? Hopefully we see a lot less of that this year.

Willard is going to mix and match this year if the team gels but I think he goes with what he knows at first, especially against FDU. I can see him going rogue when we start playing the big boys to throw them off out the gate.

Richmond
Cale
Rhoden
Samuel
Ikey

Well if Richmond is someone who as they say can break down a defense, that should open up Ike for easy lob or dish offs for easy dunks. I'm playing by big in the middle even if it takes away a jump shot threat. He cleans up a lot of defensive mistakes.

I would be very surprised if Yetna doesn't start.

Rhoden and Richmond are locks to start and with more options available I see Kevin using different starting lineups depending on what lineup is the better match.

I always thought that but Willard seems hesitant with that thinking for the most part.

I think what matters is NOT who is starting but who is in during the last 5 minutes! Who plays well, the most and finishes the game! This could change game to game during the season.

I totally see that but KW likes the metrics of the 3

Agree- KR getting in lane for lobs ….but not just to Ike - to our other guys especially if there’s some mismatches with our size/athleticism

Don't the first 35 minutes count for anything, like hopefully making sure the last 5 minutes aren't needed?

Dan, is Yetna playing the 5 or 4 or both?
Great question for starting lineup but he will def play a little of both overall. No idea how much at each position.

Maybe it depends on the confidence he has in Samuel, Jackson and Ike, maybe it depends on competition.

I assume he plays more center against a small team like FDU.

Agree Ike is a defensive force and is usually undervalued on this board with the amount of his impact on defense.

KW historically values defense. If someone is really bringing it defensively in practice Coach may start over him another player who is less defense minded.

The lineup can be very dynamic this year with the depth across the board. If he wants to go big could play
Richmond, Rhoden, Samuel, Yetna, Ike
small shooter to spread the floor
Harris, Aiken, Cale, Rhoden, Yetna or Sameul

my guess for starters tonight in the first game of the seasonis
Richmond, Cale, Rhoden, Samuel, Ike
go with the 4 returning Vets also wouldn’t surprise me if Aiken started at PG to make it the 5 returning guys

I kow Ike didnt finish games when a true center didnt make sense, but I cant think of another SH player who always started and didnt always finish.

Kadary, Harris, Cale, Yetna, Tyrese

Maybe in this particular game it doesn't matter who is starting. Rhoden's injury changes
the dynamic on that. As far as Ike, if Kevin wants him to get acclimated to coming off the bench
then he should stay with that tonight.

I'm not just talking about Fairleigh. I'm talking about the season as a whole. Are there teams where we need to go small? Possibly, but overall I say you leave the 7 footer in there to anchor the defense. I think overall we have enough shooting everywhere else on the court where we can allow him to just clean up on lobs and dump offs. That is not to mention that if there has been development as with Gill and he has any post game that will be huge.

If Ike is chasing the pick and roll 20 ft from the hoop, he isnt anchorig anything. Really wish we played some zone when Ike is on the court. A simple 2/3 with Cale and or KR up top could be a handful to deal with if ike is in the middle.

Dont hold your breath to see Ike get the ball on purpose. I wish we did it too but we never do.

Rhoden just walked on the court after the team ran out. In his warmups but not limping. Miss seeing him as the first guy out sprinting onto the court.
Better to be safe! Go Pirates! Great to be back!!!
