Stacy Abrams ( aka fat stacy) will work to overturn this law once she finalizes her actions to overturn her election for governor loss in 2018 because it was stolen.Dems can say elections are stolen forever ,but republicans are inciting insurrection if they say an election was stolen.Stacy ran once and lost but is considered a star who obviously loss by a steal since she was obviously best candidate, just ask her.

Why do you have to post and weight shame your subject matter.
In georgia in 2005 republican legislature passed all measures they now voted to ban today. So it was good for 15 years. 450k people voted R on this. But because Dems, AA and other minorities didnt vote R this is what you get.

You didn’t address the fact she is yelling her election was stolen today and that was more than 2 years ago ?

Glad to see you are carrying your hero’s torch of having a derogatory nickname for everyone. I was hoping that went away with Trump but some will wear it proudly I guess.

I don’t remember Bush or Bush or Reagan having a nickname to put down opponents and detractors. Don’t think it’s a Republican thing. Don’t recall McCain or Romney doing it. No, just the man who made political debate equivalent to kindergarten school yard.

Sometimes I wonder whats worse a kindergarten school yard or a debate stage where you know both sides are just saying what you want to hear all while making back door deals with lobbyists and other countries for their own personal gain. All these people coming to the border was the dem platform. No person is illegal. Now the dems are crapping in a hat because if they follow through on their promises, they're worried Biden (Harris) will be dealing with a Republican House and Senate. Guys like Vicente Gonzalez know he's in trouble in Texas.

Good for Georgia. Mail in should only happen when you will not be in town on election day.

can you answer why georgia republicans found it well in 2005 and had it for 15 years?

This is stupid. All of the democrats calling to end the filibuster will be the ones crying it needs to be there next time the republicans take control again. Both sides play the same game.

I have said before and still feel immigration is biden’s Waterloo. If you can get in the country you get court date ( current wait time over 3 years ).if you assume court will rule against as they usually you do like other 90% and never show up for court date.I get it if this is what Biden wants the equivalent of open borders without legislation changing the law then he picked a good system.I still think majority of people even most Dems don’t want this only far left does and he is under their thump

I don't know, I'm not from Georgia and I'm not a Republican. But from what I've read, it was bad policy then as well.

Then make it a holiday.

Voting can take hours in Georgia. I'm not saying it has to be easy, but for some reason in certain areas of Georgia, they do not set up enough poling places so voting can take many hours. Entirely unacceptable. They need an alternative way for them to be able to participate.

nah, vote however you want. reps are big babies now that someone else decided to play by the same rules.

everyone gets a vote, who cares how they give it.

I agree who cares how they give it but what does matter is that they’re casting their own vote. How many cases of filed tax returns are there a year with stolen identities? I don’t care if we vote on our phones but make sure each person gets one vote and the person casting that vote is identified properly.

No need for a holiday. Have polling places all across high populated areas, simple.

You'd think... and yet they don't do that simple fix, and have actually been removing polling locations over the last decade extending these lines. it's almost like they want it to be difficult to vote for people who live in high populated areas.

I'd be adding polling places to increase participation and reduce wait times if I were in charge.

Why do you see things through such a partisan lens? I'm about solutions, not party politics.

It's a dumb law. You shouldn't get an absentee ballot for no reason. It's called ABSENTEE for a reason. If you're not around on election day that's fine! Request a ballot. Otherwise go to vote in person at a polling place. There should be more polling places, not fewer.

if youre so keen on making it possible for people to vote, why take away mail ins? if the goal is to get as many people to vote as possible, mandating in person voting is counterintuitive.

ur right, just stop calling it absentee. its a thing of the past.

Mail in is slow, archaic and not necessary. You don't mandate in person voting. You allow people who won't be in town to vote absentee if they request a ballot.

mail in isnt that slow, plus you have plenty of time to do it. if youre worried about being archaic then make an easy online system too.

the most archaic thing is in person voting.

With in person voting you eliminate the opportunity for someone else to complete the mail in ballot other than the actual person. Opening more poling places or opening them for 3 days leading to Election Day.

how much did that happen this past election? il sure there are some fraud management techniques that would have to be thouroughly vetted

That’s the point. We don’t know. Sending ballots to everyone leaves a greater opportunity for fraud to happen. And what about those that move in an election year. I could have voted twice in the Presidential election last year but I didn’t for obvious reasons.

That’s right. Expand in person voting. Make it voting week. Make it more convenient.

I don’t think mail in is rampant with fraud, but it does provide more scenarios for problems. Our mail system is not reliable enough. People are, to put it mildly, pretty stupid. I can send a document to someone, highlight the line to sign and flag the page and the shit comes back blank.

Make in person voting easy, convenient, expansive. Make it a Thursday/Friday/Saturday event.

AND create National Standards. Why can’t we have a standard voting booth, standard type ballot, a standard ID, standards about how many voting machines that need to be in a district as a percent of the population. No reason why you can’t open up polls early to provide access and minimize lines. An absentee ballot works as a default for someone who can’t make it during those days. Plain and simple.

Definitely we should try to get more people involved in elections.

Not a fan of just mailing ballots to everyone, if you want or need a mail in ballot, you should be required to request.

I am in favor of multi day in person voting, maybe Sunday/Monday/Tuesday,

But what I am really in favor is a federal standard (at least when voting is for federal offices) as others have mentioned. Standard voting machines that meet federal guidelines, same access (so voting hours 6AM-9PM for example in all states and polling locations based population numbers) and requirements for counting and reporting of votes.

This will take some time, but should help solve the issues both sides claim as problems with voting system.

Unfortunately, Shelby v. Holder is why.

Pretty much need a constitutional amendment at this point and that's not likely.

Yep. That's how it should work.

When you’re talking politics, most things are “not likely”, less it’s about spending money that we don’t have.

Yup, so lets

That won't cost any money at all.

While we are having a moment together, please reach out to our resident Constitutional scholar and ask him to weigh in on your idea about a National Standard for voting. I'm sure he'll have something to say.

People shouldn’t have to wait for hours to vote. Increasing polling sites or even the holiday option makes sense to me (less important now IMO with work from home options and flexibility going forward). I am all for legitimate increased participation. Increasing avenues more susceptible to fraud, ballot harvesting or other nonsense is a huge problem though. Nor do I think it is in any way a good idea to have situations in which votes are being tallied and coming in days after the election.
