Cuz if you take all 3, then we only need 2 more wins to get to 10-8. We have an almost guaranteed win against SJU on 2/21, and I'd like to think we scrounge one up somewhere else, preferably by at least avenging all the hurt Depaul has laid on us in past years.

Also, does anyone think we need a 3rd signature win (i.e one of those games next month against Prov & X) to cinch it up? Or is 10-8 with only Providence & Wichita State being big time wins enough for the resume?

Win the next 3, beat SJU & DePaul plus beat Xavier or Prividence at home.

2-1 would be fine, but 3-0 is very doable.

Dealing with SHU basketball is like walking on eggshells, but we have the talent to play with and beat every team in this league.

This scenario is very possible and would get us to 10 BE wins and 20 total. I actually think we can get to 11 or 12 in the BE.
- split with Butler and gtown(2 wins)
- split with X and Prov at home (1 win)
- win 2 of 3 against Marq, SJU, Depaul (2 wins)

Solo, I'm thinking that our judgment of what it takes to get there is always undercut by the deciding judges on the committee by our negative history ringing more loudly in their ears than our positive history. I don't expect a fair shake - or I mean more clearly - a generous shake, the way the perennials get a generous shake.

So, if we take all three and finish 10-8 to boot, I think we still have no guarantees. Each win less opens up a major chunk of doubt.

I know what you're saying, even with 2-1 and scrounging some other stuff, is the resume possibly good enough. Might be - depends on if we get to at least 9-9 or 10-8 - and how we get there.

Good question - we always want more signature wins - but, what if, etc etc

If this team continues to play good BBall, everything should fall into place from there; every game is big from here on in-play strong, solid, and 2gether, and I like our chances

Georgetown scares me.
Depends on which night because there are times when they are terrific ,and others when they are helter skelter. I go to most of their home games, and the secret is to shut down Smith Rivera. Dunn put the blanket of him on Saturday and completely disrupted their offense.

Meh. I'll be very disappointed if we don't AT LEAST split with GU. I think we could take both games. KW is actually 3-4 versus JTIII in his six years here. Compared to his overall BE record, that's fantastic. Let Gordon and Ish bother DSR and we'll be in good shape.

Henry Ellenson is playing so well right now. Different player from what we saw earlier in the season.

I'm not confident about this game.

Same goes for Georgetown. Just a bad match up for us. Bigs are going to give us fits.

We're different too - that's what makes these match ups hard to predict either way. I think we can give either team major fits. I think they can give us major fits.

So - my take is that the hungrier team wins.

That's what makes this opportunity exciting - if we go 3-0, it won't mean we have the best talent top to bottom in all positions, but it will mean that we are very talented *and* hungry, which counts for a lot.

All that matters. If we get beat by GTown, Marquette, or Butler, than the simple fact is they deserve a bid more than we do.

There a few threads going about implications from the past and the effect on this team. The biggest head-scratcher has been Willard teams getting a clear bead on a bid, and then completely coming out flat (most vividly last year around this time, and 2011-12 at the last two games of the season). I agree this team has different characters, but it has been baffling to me how Willard hasn't been able to hold his teams together when they are actually close to getting a bid. You've got to think that most kids are hungry knowing they have a chance to get under the bright lights this March.

GTown, Butler, and to a lesser extent Marquette are looking at that same glimmer of hope. Who wants it more? Who is going to have a steady hand on the rock when the team needs a score? Who's going to play hard defense without fouling when the team needs a stop? I hope this group holds together and makes a statement for themselves this week and next.

Ellenson ripped up the OOC. His two games before us he was 17/15 and 19/13, was 15/11 vs Wisc and 16/11 vs LSU. His first bad game was against us.

This game and Ellenson make me nervous too. But it is not accurate to think he came into our game in a slump. It may be fairer to say we put him in a slump.

Not saying he was in a slump. He has been putting up great stats all season. But stats sometimes don't tell the whole story. he has been completely controlling games as of late. Such an impact player.

Same goes for IW. He put up numbers last couple games that he has throughout the season but he is playing like a different player. True floor general.

I agree the height of Mq scares me, like it did the first time around, like Creighton's height scared me the 2nd time around. And GU scares me in a lot of ways. To say nothing about Butler...Nothing is easy. Can be lots of fun or lots of pain. But we are playing in a completely new style. Cant wait for Wednesday.
