Guy shoots 5 people after being asked to stop shooting his gun in the neighborhood so a ladys kids can sleep. guy responds he can do what he eants on his property. shoots 5 people not on his property. yeehaw texas!

little different situations no? and i dotn remember philadelphia priding itself on its gun freedoms.
Five dead is five dead….and amazing that you don’t care about gun violence where you live. Shouldn’t the numbers in Philly be better with more restrictive laws? How’s that working out for you?

i think gang lands are different than suburban neighborhoods and schools. gangs know what theyre doing is wrong, which is why they do it. that guy in texas thinks hes right

nobody is pro gangs or gang violence. they are two different scenarios, both bad. be we dont have a political party defending gangs do we?

You have some of the most epic dumb takes, and this being another. You don’t know the first thing about gangs or his neighborhood from your snowflake bubble.

The gangs and this guy are criminals. Deal with criminals or keep doing your ignorant north / south schtick.

States with more restrictive gun laws do have a direct correlation to lower gun death rates though.

Another post of nonsense. Nice job.

We do have a political party who is extremely vocal that those neighborhoods are left behind and they are the champions of fighting for those people. You would think such a political party, if they had power in cities where these events happen, would put an end to gangs in those areas to be real champions of those people or at bare minimum be out there fighting for it to stop daily, calling attention to it daily, etc

but theyre not out there defending gang violence.

That's the absurdity of words speaking louder than actions.

By that logic I guess we can be cool with politicians allowing white supremists to do their things in the communities they run as long as they don't defend it? Sounds pretty dumb to me.

being ineffective at stopping it is much different than defending it. much much different.

Do you believe they are deploying all resources available to stop it? I would guess in 90% of the cities this stuff happens this is a top 3 issue they face.

The incoming mayor of Chicago did say not to deaminize the kids that were burning cars, breaking store windows, assaulting people, looting and even shooting people. He basically made excuses for their poor behavior.

Another horrific event and an opportunity for more political rhetoric.

And we have the convenient "stat" now of capturing "mass shootings" for an obvious reason. The reality is why is four some kind of magic number and why do we only count shootings?

If for some reason we need to count large scale events, why not "mass killings" so we can capture guns, vehicles, knives, poisoning and other means?

And while it's difficult to come up with specific reasons because the data is just not collected that easily much less reported, it strikes me that almost exclusively, these mass killings are committed by people for the following reasons:

- Gang and drug related.
- Mental illness that includes suicidal (many in this category kill themselves or be killed).
- Fits of rage.

Here is a website from the USA today from last year in conjunction with the AP and Northeastern University that can help you get started.

Screwed up morality? I doubt someone with a gun and good morals is going out to Jill people. I could be wrong but I’m going to bet I’m not.

they can kill a lot less without it
I’m sorry is crappy morals not something else they all have in common other than the weapon? You asked the question, I answered. Then I gave my 2 cents. My 2 cents is irrelevant to the facts which say they have more in common than just a weapon. Guess what if you solve the moral issue you can probably stop the killings, stop rape, stop the cause of the me too movement, police brutality, and 99% of the the major issues today. But why do that, let’s focus on guns.

And while you're working on coaxing God to descend from the heavens to solve the moral issue we could always take sensible steps to limit weapons of war. 🙉
