NEW YORK - Coming off an electric weekend of driving in runs, freshman Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) has been named the BIG EAST's Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Hill hit .571 (8-for-14) in four games last week and had two home runs, four doubles, six runs scored and 13 RBI in leading Seton Hall to a non-conference win over Rutgers and a BIG EAST series win at Georgetown. Her slugging percentage for the week was 1.286, and her on-base percentage was .600.

In the first game against Georgetown last Thursday, she homered, had six RBI and scored three times in an 11-1 victory. In Saturday's rubber game, she hit the go-ahead, bases-clearing double as part of a 3-for-5, six-RBI day to lift the Pirates to a 13-10 win.

Hill is now hitting .368 with five home runs, 14 doubles, 21 runs scored and 34 RBI on the season. Her 0.42 doubles per game rank her fifth in the nation. In 15 BIG EAST games, she's hitting .471 with three home runs, 11 doubles, 21 RBI and 10 runs scored.

Hill and the Pirates play a doubleheader at Marist on Wednesday before hosting UConn in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Essex County Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field.
