It looks like Texas is trying to make life miserable for Rick Barnes. Granted he's been unsuccessful in the NCAA Tournament (not even a Sweet Sixteen in the past seven years), but telling a guy who's been a Division I coach for 29 years to change his offensive scheme is ridiculous.

Gregg Marshall, come on down. It would seem to be a perfect match.

Agree 100%. And considering the CBSSports article which implied that Texas is a school Marshall would strongly consider, and further considering that it is already out there that 'Bama wants to make a run at him, Texas is clearly being proactive to get their guy.

SHU90s,

Bill Self's biggest nightmare. It wouldn't take long for Marshall to be regularly beating the Jayhawks. At the very least, it would bring some juice to that rivalry. That's a good thing for Big 12 hoops.

Definitely would bring juice to the rivalry. I pause a little bit on the idea that he would "regularly" be beating Jayhawks, only because Self has proven himself to be the second-best recruiter in the country, behind that dude who works in Lexington, Kentucky. As great a coach as Marshall is, he has largely not been going head-to-head with the Caliparis and Selfs of the world when recruiting players. Regardless, Marshall is a helluva coach, and I'm quite confident that whatever talent he does bring in will be quite successful. Successful enough to "regularly" beat the Jayhawks? Not ready to go that far! If the Texas job does open up -- as we expect it will -- I would be stunned if Marshall doesn't take it.
