Didn't want to post this on the free board but thought it's worthy of it's own post here even though it's been covered pretty often in numerous threads. It's heartbreaking but Myles Powell isn't the player he was pre concussion. It's been chalked up to lots of things from being run down, to having tendonitis in his knee, to being too emotional and having a tough time with pressure...especially at home. Perhaps some of those things have played a part butI believe he's not the player he was last year or early this year. I had hopes that he shook it off and was finally recovered in the Georgetown game in DC where he had the jump in his step back, was hitting his shots and looked electric again. Saw some of this at the win at Nova but he's slipped back and isn't the Myles Powell we knew from the past. Willard is very sensitive about this and if you recall his post game interview with Gary Cohen several games ago his answer when asked if Myles still isn't right was an uncharacteristic and very abrupt, NEXT!"

Dan mentioned the pressure and emotion but think about it, was there a bigger stage than "The World's Most Famous Arena",Madison Square Garden for a nationally broadcast game vs Kentucky last year?!?...he didn't have any problem with the pressure or emotion there...he stepped up and played like the Myles Powell we knew hitting one of the most clutch shots you'll ever see. How about vs Michigan State? At home at The Rock, the game was in the national spotlight...he was coming off an ankle injury and he lit it up. Tom Izzo who isn't a terrible coach knew he had to stop him an he still lit it up for 37. No home or spotlight jitters or emotions there. The emotions probably spurred him on through the cranky ankle. That sad fact is that Myles has had some moments but hasn't been the same since the concussion. He's no longer superman, or the All American he was at the beginning of the year. He's not the immortal who can pull out and almost will a win in any game like he used to. Just thinking back to his heroic, otherworldly performance last year vs Georgetown in DC with his 35 pts in 45 minutes and very little support from his teammates in double OT. Today he's a good player but not the superstar that we knew him as. Shots he's hit his whole career he's missing badly...and very telling no longer automatic from the line. Hate to say he even looks like he put on a few pounds from his prime.

Nobody's a bigger Seton Hall or Myles Powell fan than me... I'm wearing my Myles Powell shirt as I type this. We've got the BET this week and the Big Dance next week. Praying that he gets back to the player he was earlier this year and last year. If he does the sky's the limit and BET champion and even a National Championship are possible. If it's the same Myles we've seen post concussion we've still got a shot at the Sweet 16 but also very possible of taking a second round exit. Hoping with all my heart for the former. Myles Powell and Seton Hall are so very worthy of that fairytale ending.
