The gov

Seton 75, I could not agree with you more. He just got into office and literally has done nothing to offend anyone. And it was loud booing. I thought it was classless on our part especially coming on the heels of Christie who when he came to a game, he wasn't rooting for Seton Hall but for Notre Dame.

I also think the looming $15/hr minimum wage affects a lot of our fan base negatively. Personally I was a little surprised he was booed too. Although I just didn't do anything.

Why the heck was he booed?

I am not a huge fan, but I honestly think people booed the governor just to boo the governor. The biggest boos came from the student section, which by all indications would be supportive of this governor. Weird because after half time he was in student section shaking hands, posing for pictures and talking to students, any students all seemed to be engaging him.

It is like the commissioner in the pro sports, whenever they make appearances always seemed to be booed by the home crowd.

Could it be the combination of paying State income taxes in April plus the issuance of 2018 property tax bills by the towns (along with the inability to deduct more than $10,000)?

Well, I am no fan of his on a number of accounts, but it WAS interesting that he attended the SHU game and not the RU game that was taking place at MSG.

I guess he wanted local coverage of his attendance and he got it...... NJ.com sports page posted 13 pictures of the game and 2 of them were of our governor. .....no mention that the Cardinal was in attendance, also,

I'm sure he's more partial to the Villanova wine and cheese crowd anyways...

We whined for yrs about Christie not coming to games. So the new guy comes and we greet our guest with a mountain of boos. Dislike the guy in your debates and the voting booth. Greet a guest at our games with some class.

I didn't vote for him, but he deserves respect. Only a month and a half into his term. I thought it was a bit distasteful for our fans to do that.

I think it's just a knee jerk reaction to any politician right now to boo them. As another poster referenced he was well received in the student section while he walked around.

Pols are used to it. I’d bet he took it well. Plus he was texting when the camera got him.

I actually think he got the intial reaction because he was texting when they put his picture up.

BTW Governor Codey likes to be called The gov

I will admit that I booed the new Governor. My reasons in no particular order are that is a puppet of the NJEA, he is pushing for the legalization of marijuana, he wants to increase minimum wage to $15 per hour which will actually reduce jobs among small businesses and that he believes that California is a good model for NJ to follow. I also booed Christie every chance I had also.

Wish the governor of my state pushed for things like that.

There were plenty of cheers.

The last time a sitting governor was at our game (Delaware last year) he was not put on the message board.

Anybody catch the guy giving The Cardinal bunny ears on the Jumbo-Tron?

That was classless and embarrasing.

The Cardinal is one of us, no way the Ledger would support that!

Hell no!

In this guy's case he is pro abortion, pro illegals, wants to raise taxes, wants to make New Jersey a sanctuary state, he is an unmitigated disaster!

This thread is heading to the other board, but come on.... he is not pro-abortion. No one is pro abortion...

he’s not pro illegal immigrants. He wants to protect people who came here as children from being deported.

He got boo’d cause people root for politicians like they do sports teams.

Typically classless, typically Seton Hall. I’m sure he understood.

40 million abortions since Roe v Wade. Let that number sink in. Sure sign of a decayed society that ends that many lives for “convenience” sake. We’re catholic and we see abortion as a mortal sin. Have no issue with mild booing (and that’s all it was) of a public official who favors abortion. After all he was in a building with pretty much 13k Catholics.

No one is pro abortion?????? C'mon Merge that's just false. That's a discussion for the other board and one I think we've had in the past. Well at least we know he's not anti-abortion after re-funding Planned Parenthood.

Yes, I’m sure we’ve had it in the past.

If you want to boo him because he is pro-choice that’s your right to do so... but it’s not like he is going around telling people to have unprotected sex and get abortions. Just wish both sides could approach the issue from a place of compassion aiming to reduce the #’s.
