The last time that happened - Part 6

Remember it clearly since I was a student then and at the game, 21 points 12 rebounds and 10 blocks vs Norfolk State.

Eddie Griffin - The most talented basketball player ever to play at the Hall. His physical gifts were extraordinary.

It's sad to look back at what could have been for this man. His Mental health issues were never really addressed.

I remember it well, quite a performance. Pretty sure it was the first game I ever went to at Walsh.

I think Walter Dukes might have something to say about being the most talented basketball player at SHU if he were still with us. Different time and game but he had crazy numbers in only three years at the Hall. The asterisk for Eddie will always be him only playing a short time.

All American - won the Haggerty Award. 18.9 rebounds per game over 3 years. 22.2 boards per game in 1952-53 (still an NCAA record). When he was a senior he averaged 26.1 points per game and those 22.2 boards and lead SHU to the NIT championship (which was the best college post season tourney at the time). 3 time All-Star in eight NBA seasons and played with the Harlem Globetrotters for two seasons as well. He also became a successful lawyer before a terrible car accident sent him into trouble and homelessness and his death in Detroit.

Amazing that IMO two of our best players of all time had serious issues and are not with us anymore. It's good to see some of our other stars doing so well like Terry Dehere and Jerry Walker and Callandrillo and Galis etc.

I get the feeling the better of hicks and gunter might be in the conversation too. Those guys were good.
