The Life of Cheese

He's a wide body for a guard with beautiful rotation on his shot. Reminds me of a Darius Lane type a little bit. Can't wait for him to don an SHU uniform.

I'm a little disappointed to see that he looks heavier than he did when he committed to us. There is no way that he would be able to play D in the BE unless he focuses this spring and summer and drops weight. And we may need him to play important minutes next year.

I thought the same thing and at one time his weight was listed at 170 and now some of the recruiting profiles list him at 200. I remember seeing some clips of him this past summer and he looked much slimmer then he does now.

South Kent Is a legit prep school where he plays against legit competition who will be playing very high levels in college.

Agreed. But the upside of this is.....

If he's playing well at this weight than when he loses the body fat in college, and believe me he will, with SHU's training regiment and nutrition plan then his potential will be even higher.

Down the Melvyn Oliver buffet line in the cafeteria before he gets here.…

How about we lay off the comparisons to disappointing players till he puts on the uniform. He is a top 100 kid who can shoot his ass off. I am excited to see him play.
It was meant as a joke, but the weight is a little of a concern. As of right now the comparison I am thinking is jamar nutter.

I personally see nothing wrong in pointing out a current player or a future player's physical characteristics have changed whether it's a positive or negative development. Powell has added weight and for people to notice that and comment on it should not provoke posters to say those comments should not be made. It's OK to say a player needs to add weight but it's not OK to say a player looks too heavy for his frame?

I just get tired of us disparaging our players and team, specially highly touted kids who haven't suited up yet, the kind of kids we have been dying to get. So I will say cut it out, and you can ignore me.

The kid has been playing lights out. The training staff will help him get to where he needs to be so that he can be successful.
Vinnie Johnson clone......

We have posters on this board who will criticize future recruits who havent even been born yet...

We are going to love this kid. Not worried about weight issues. Desi rod lost weight so could he.

When he gets here and Singh gets more PT next year we will have shooters for sure.

He's playing too well as of late, people needed something to criticize. We have a group that would be miserable if they weren't miserable. I'm surprised nobody compared him to Big Mel Oliver yet.
