I'm trying to alternate positive/funny posts with more serious ones.
Here's the latter.
I was getting very frustrated with my lack of access to Willard's program. He basically cut all ties with me. Because of that I requested a media pass but was denied because of Willard. That was the final straw and I was about to quit. It just wasn't worth the effort I was putting in to help a person who treated me like garbage from day 1.
Pat was the AD back then and I sent him an email not telling him I was quitting, but instead making him aware that I had requested a media pass and was denied. Less than 15 minutes later I get a call from the school's BB program telling me that they made a mistake and I now had a media pass effective imm.
Obviously Pat got involved and unbeknown to him he had allowed me to continue running the board (with Tom's help).
Now, move forward to the next game. It was at Walsh and it was the game Eugene Teague was injured. The Hall blew out the opponent but the media session, my first was somber because of losing Teague..
Only three questions were asked. The Star Ledger's, Jerry Carino's and JP Pelzman's who I never met up to that day.
Because of the silence I decided to ask a softball question as it would be my first.
Our defense gave up less than 20 points in the first half so I asked if Willard was pleased with the team's defense in the first half. He said no (he would always correct me when I asked a question by disagreeing with what I said. It was a pattern that started from the very beginning). Here he said he wasn't pleased with the defense at all and they needed to work on some things. I followed up with a question on what they needed to work on and here's his response.
"That's for me to know and you and your board to find out". JP who again I did not know looked at me and said why would he respond like that.
