Now, the lighter side of Willard doing what coaches do.

Another early season game at Walsh. This was the one that Myles Powell turned his ankle early on and did not return.

This media session was in a different area than the one with the Teague injury and this time 5 different players met the media before Willard came out. Obviously the first question that was asked of each individual player was the status of Powell. All five players said the same thing. He was fine and walking normally in the locker room. In fact to a man they all said Powell wanted to go back into the game but was denied by the staff.

Minutes after the players spoke to us they went back to the locker room and then Willard came out not knowing what the players had told us.

Now Willard's turn to answer the Powell question. We surrounded him and he said that Powell was seriously injured and would be out at least a month and would not suit up for the next game against Michigan State at the Rock. I was next to Jerry Carino and we looked at each other and had to stifle a laugh.

A couple of days later Powell scored 34 points against the Big Ten team.
